Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production

For specifics for my clips, should I just e-mail you?
I was thinking you may be right about the test pattern breaks. Not sure why I didn't throw them in anyway but yeah, the regular clips sections would be more cohesive with something connecting them.

Go ahead and PM me with your remarks...

I e-mailed your g-mail with my comments (don't be afraid of the length, it's not nearly as bad as it looks, there are several compliments in there ^^) Let me know if you didn't receive it or have any questions.

One other thought, at the very beginning during the Reservoir Dogs section, would it be too much effort now to add a ticker-tape news thing to the bottom with some random jokes on it about Otakon emergencies or something, like 'the Cult of the Chair has taken over the Masquerade Room, details unfolding in the next hour' or 'Weekly ~Desu Quota Achieved, Animated Doll Powers Planet through Repeated Word for 9th Straight Week' or something? Initially the green outline came off as a 'mistake' to me, I wasn't quite sure why the screen was sectioned. It didn't feel like it read the way you wanted it to be read, so if you have any time to spare it may be beneficial to make it look more preview-ish. I can come up with something quick and compositional if you don't want to be bothered.

...er, and please forgive me if my comments come off harsh in any way! I'm an artist professionally, so I'm used to Art Director critiques ^^

Hey deuceloosely

Just watched the Beta. Did you get the other clips I sent you? I had sent two more, like the day after you decided to extend the deadline. I didn't see them in there...just was wondering if you just didn't get them or if there were some technical issues... and if you just didn't get them, any chance they can be added? They should be in a PM I sent you on May 20th. Other than that I saw a few other things I'll point out to you in a PM when I get some more time.

I don't know how I overlooked those. Bet yer ass they'll be added, most likely near the end (before the epic DBZ closer). I may have lost a clip or two in transition between computers (I can't, for the life of me, find my AMVS2 files). Yeah, things have been pretty frantic this weekend but you can expect a cleaner and finer-tuned version of this thing by this weekend...

Overall I liked it, but there were some pretty obvious glitches and minor things which screw things up a bit.

Btw lol @ credits. At first there's this slow paced music in the background and then our production tags come crashing through the music, after which the slow paced audio resumes

I also thought it was kinda weird to have the 'AMV Salad 3' part after the reservoir dogs clip. I'll PM the rest of my feedback :)

Which codec do we need to play this? My harddrive died last week, so I'm using another computer which I don't think has everything I had on it. Is it just DivX?

Thanks

Having watched it, I agree that the "fade out" between clips doesn't really... work... less funny, imo.

If I could also suggest switching the order of a few clips. There was one part where there were two [as] bumpers within 2 clips of each other... you could definately move the second of those to a later spot so that the comedic effect of the bumpers isn't lost.

While I am loathe to switch the order of clips as well as rearranging the credits, it seems that there are a few instances where this needs done.

I have already removed the fades on "regular" clips and placed the signature test pattern break in between them.

I'm gonna make a change to the opening sequence to make it look more like the transition between TV shows. There are also a few minor synching issues to clean up.

The thing with the production tags is intentional. Just remember those who come to the panels to see this just want to be entertained more than anything else. Yes, a few clips kind of stray from the visual quality we strive for but things like this are tough to coordinate among a group like this. Anyway, I'm working on things as we speak...

Cool.

Ok here are the things I noticed, just little mistakes really:
@2:40-TYPO-it says [adult swim] instead of [amvs3], or was that intentional?
@4:06-there is a subtitle that says "It can't be helped". Once again I don't know if this was intentionally put there, or if the clip had a subtitle in it.
@11:56-TYPO-it says [amx Salad 3] isn't it supposed to be V not X? Or is there some joke there I'm missing?
@16:30-TYPO-Who's Destroying Anim_ (title is missing the E)
@17:28-TYPO-Wall-E _ound clip (missing the S)
@18:20-TYPO- Knew we forgot. som_thing.. (missing the E)
