It got me the most when Al stepped up and got that badass attitude going on.kiarrens wrote:Yep.Brigid wrote:(That is the one with that big battle between Ed and Mustang, right?)
I must say though, while the manga may leave some characters out a little more than in the anime, it focuses on others MUCH more. I love Winry in the manga, and the relationship between she and Ed is SO much more pronounced. (Check out the AMV in my sig if you don't believe me.)
Also, we get that awesomefight. Holy god. That was hardcore. I would have paid a great deal of money to see that animated.Spoiler :

The manga is easily my favorite manga of all time. I love reading it every month when a new chapter comes out. I LOVE Arakawa's suberb mix of great story telling, drama, action, and comedy all blended into one. Love the comedy the most. She knows just how to make things so interesting you fall out of your seat while reading them.kiarrens wrote:Yep.Brigid wrote:(That is the one with that big battle between Ed and Mustang, right?)

Like the most ironic twist thus far:

Biggest thing I loved about the manga as compared with the anime: Barry the Chopper got more time and was actually IMPORTANT to the plot. Barry=best. Arakawa gave him exactly what I wanted.
A sitcom with Falman and Barry=win. :p

That was definitely fun. And, of course, led to that awesome fight between Roy and Lust.
That was so cool.
The anime isn't anywhere near the manga, but it's still a lot of fun. Just getting to see Ed in action when he flips out is reason enough to see it.
I do wish they'd stuck with the original plot more, though. *sigh* can't have everything.

Because they had to start it too soon and caught up to the manga...I don't know why they have to start making anime adaptations so soon, that's why they can never stay true to them most of the time.Brigid wrote:

I hope after the manga finishes they do another anime series, like with Hellsing. But I know that'll never happen, as the anime is too loved by a lot of people as it is.

If you guys are interested, my friends and I in the cosplay community have started making some "live action FMA video" stuff, mostly comedy, though.
I have it up on you-know-where, same username as I have here. Some of the stuff from AnimeBoston is pretty funny, but the script we have for Otakon is going to be fabulous, plus I'm actually story-boarding it all out - and using my tripod (it got lost in the hotel room for animeboston, I was saddened).
Otakon 2007: "What if... Ed and Roy were forced to share a hotel room?"
(And no, there will be no yaoi. Just lots and lots of practical jokes and insults.
)
On the topic of a second series, as much as I'd love to see certain scenes animated, I fear it would risk jumping the proverbial shark.
One of the reasons I love the anime so much is that it ends in a timely manner, unlike SOME anime I could mention.

Haha! Oh, that would be so weird.
I bet they get a huge bill for damages.
I'd like to see the people from the east animated. Especially that prince who's always collapsing from hunger.

Ling is great. Can't wait for the library to get more volumes so I can figure out what happens to him.
I wonder how long this series is going to last? I have heard that the author knows how it ends, but it sure is a long story so far.
Not complaining, mind, but I am kinda curious.
