Just watched episode 22. Despite what i said about the last episode before, Clannad has officially bumped Kanon off of my favorites list.
Why? Because i find the characters in Clannad 100x more likable regardless of the fact 3/4 of the story has been cut. Im trying to rewatch Kanon and all of the girls annoy the sheer feck out of me. I think good characters + basic plot is better than sucky characters + complex plot. And the scene with Nagisa's dad shouting at her was touching dangit.
i should play that game sometime >=|

Well I really enjoyed the end, mainly because I played Nagisa's route in the game, and I knew this would be an emotional scene because it was the highlight of the game for me.Chiikaboom wrote:Just watched episode 22. Clannad is still one of my favorites, but I feel sad that they didn't end it as well as it could have been ended.
What I find annoying though is that some people are saying the whole series is crap just because they didn't like the ending, which is pretty lame |:
With that being said, season 2 is beginning to look like a possibility with how they ended it, but I'm not gonna have any hopes until I hear something about it.

Kanon ranks 5 and Clannad ranks 4 for me. I watched Kanon last night. I watch episodes 7-11. I cried like a little baby during episode 10. MAKOTO! Please kill me now.Chiikaboom wrote:Just watched episode 22. Despite what i said about the last episode before, Clannad has officially bumped Kanon off of my favorites list.

Kanon has a complex plot???Chiikaboom wrote:I think good characters + basic plot is better than sucky characters + complex plot.

And sucky characters???

Are you sure you're not talking about another show?

Kanon had more arcs, more development and a much more dramatic finale in contrast to what we got in Clannad.I still like both anime, but there's no way that Clannad could surpass Kanon.
And dammit, having watched the Clannad and the Air movie today,I wish there had been a Kanon movie too with an alternate plot and ending...

Kanon is way more dramatic and much sadder. I cried once in all of Clannad (haven't seen last episode yet) but I have cried on 7 different occassions during Kanon and I am only on ep 11. The worst (saddest) time was on ep10. But Makoto is somehow still alive (see end of ep10)Full Metal Sempai wrote:Kanon has a complex plot???Chiikaboom wrote:I think good characters + basic plot is better than sucky characters + complex plot.![]()

Ah yes last ep reminded that that while I hate the movie, I love the TV series. As I expected I doubt KyoAni will do the After Story as its more mature and even dark, the ending of the TV was colourful and leaves you with a nice and happy impression. A sequel wouldn't work imo =/
In any case while the last ep didn't have a dramatic climax like Kanon I liked how it ended. My only real disappointment with the series is how fast Tomoyo's arc went by.

what I like about Clannad which Kanon didn't really do, is stuck the characters together all the way through, even Fuko in some way managed to do that, because of that the characters really grows on you. Now with Kanon I really think Mai is awesome but it felt more of arc 1 to arc 2 to arc 3, though it did improve a lot from AIR TV where there were no connection between the characters. Clannad had it all together all the way through so I think KyoAni is getting better at this each KEY series they do.
