You know, this is the type of series that takes all the basic rules of good taste, wipes it's ass with them, and doesn't even have enough decency to flush afterwards. At least it's not another boring harem

Speaking of the show's taste, though, this week's second episode was quite interesting. I do appreciate how PSG is able to mix things up a little - while of course the love story we were treated to was nothing especially deep or profound, when set against the backdrop of the show's usual fare (and, indeed, the contrast of summer and winter between the two episodes) the change of pace and tone was a simple but effective juxtaposition to make it effective and reflective.

I do have to remark, though, about the rather obviously flat animation in the beach episode - I don't think that it's an exaggeration that sections looked as though they were put together in Flash. I suppose that Gainax thought that this was the episode where they could get away with budget conservation, as viewers would be too preoccupied on the bikinis to care!

I hope no-one minds a bit of cross-promotion, but PSG enthusiasts might be interested to see that I've made a short AMV on the show. PSG has appeared on a couple of compilations in the last couple of months, but I believe that this is the first dedicated AMV for it - I have a longer and more substantial one in the works which I hope to post early next week, but in the meantime this is a quick ditty comparing Panty & Stocking to South Park's Terence & Philip.
