If you think about it that can't be it, mainly because the Mangekyou Sharingan is very rare, so they wouldn't plan on an Uchiha with it appearing.

It's one of the strongest powers on the planet, surely they would know that (for proof of the Mangekyou's strength i refer you to....the episode when Itachi and Kisame turn up and Itachi totally whupps Kurenai and Kakashi, i don't know numbers....

), this means not many people, if anyone could stand up to it's full might.

Besides when Kakashi says "Only one with the Sharingan can stand up to him now," he's right, but he doesn't know that it needs to be at least a full blood Sharingan, if not another Mangekyou.

FYI: The anime got it wrong, the Mangekyou Sharingan isn't just another Doujutsu, it actually looks different to the normal level 3 Sharingan and is another level of ability

if you do think about it, its been years since itachi went psyco, so he could have got it done then. he might have got it done since he heard about itachi, and sasuke, sasuke might be unstable after losing his entire village. and theres no way i can watch episode 93 or whatever it was.

I suspect Kakashi's old teammate the one Kakashi visited, after Hokage's funeral with the other Anbu girl was a Uchiha. Dunno for sure but I thnk maybe...

As for Itachi...

In order to get his special kind of Sharingan he needs to kill a close friends, since that is already done, ppl of the Uchiha clan were after him. And perhaps they were either gonna get him, or the more ppl u care about that you kill it gets even more stronger? or maybe he thought the clan has disingrated filled with unskillful ppl and he saw only his bro who has some skill. And that's why Sasuke wants to kill Naruto...to get the Mangekyou
