Re: HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD
I went into this expecting mindless zombie-slaying fun and got just that (along with a little unnecessary fanservice, but it's not enough to make me stop watching it). I normally watch shows with a little more substance when it comes to story and characters, but I've heard people constantly sing praises for the manga, so I decided to check this out. Within the first episode, this show became something of a guilty pleasure for me, like junk food in anime form. The animation for this kind of show was really well done and I was impressed with the voice acting (especially on Hisashi's part). I'm not expecting the story and characters to be any deeper than a thimble, but the action, suspense, and fast pace are enough to keep me entertained. I'm also glad that this series is going to be 12 episodes long, because Madhouse can only stretch this series for so long without getting boring or monotonous.

So if they escape from the school would they have to change the anime name to "City of the Dead"?

Re: HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD
I know right. It might be just like the series "Prison Break". The moment they broke out of prison, they kept getting caught and going to different prisons. Maybe they'll actually escape to a different school that isn't populated by zombies.AznBoiBryant wrote:So if they escape from the school would they have to change the anime name to "City of the Dead"?

Re: HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD
All caught up with the manga now. They left the school pretty early and the last 10 or so chapters they've holed up in a mall. If it continues like this, it's practically an adaption of Dawn of the Dead.
@Darklydone: Your problem is that you tried to take Zombie Strippers seriously when it is an obvious comedy and parody of the horror genre. The title itself should be explanation enough, as it presents the sexualization of the horror genre in its rawest form. Ever since the 80s, the horror/thriller type movie experience has has associations with two prominent themes: Extreme gore and explicit sexual content. Zombie Strippers shows the ultimate fusion of these two themes, where the gorey monsters have themselves become sexualized. Such a concept can only be looked upon with hilarity. If that weren't enough, they also added scathing political commentary against the Bush Association and a whole slew of philosophical monologuing that would feign seriousness in any other situation. In a zombie movie, it is so out of place that it makes the movie impossible to take serious at all. It's hysterical how much ridiculousness you could fit in such a short and fun work of cinema. The movie never fails to be entertaining, and has earned its place amongst my top 10 favorite movies list. If you can't stomach the gore and you can't understand the meaning of satire, then its your loss for being ignorant of the genre. You can say you didn't enjoy it, but can't say that the movie sucked without giving just reason or at least your own critique.
Also, if Umineko did have a pool ball cannon vagina or slimy rotten face dances, maybe it would have held my interest for more than a few episodes, and maybe I would have been able to overlook the god-awful DEEN animation, the shit-stale and uninteresting characters, the stitched together mediocre plot and the constant wailing of spoiled rugrat whose voice is the satanic spawn of a thryst between a vuvuzela and a dying dog.
But thats just my opinion, man.

The plot is very simple.MAL wrote:A mysterious, lethal disease is on the loose worldwide, resulting in a catastrophic death rate of humanity, and the increasing rise of attacks, caused by the living dead.
In Japan, several high school students and a school nurse have banded together to escape Fujimi High School shortly after it was attacked by zombies. The group now attempts to figure who or what was responsible for this plague, and in the meantime, attempt to survive the present apocalypse.
The story is initially narrated through the eyes of Takashi Komuro, one of the students who had survived in the initial outbreak.
