Wow, after seeing the movie, if this is what Production I.G. and director Tsutomu Mizushima (Hare+Guu, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan) can pull off, then I seriosuly can't wait to check out the upcoming TV series. These guys seriously nailed the creppy and disjointed atmosphere of xxxHolic. And not to mention they did an excellent job on Watanuki's rather overreactive behavior.
The movie's plot is an original work (meaning it's not from the manga) though they did keep the overall content of morals and mysteries...
The movie is a visual wonder of intrigue and mystery, and hopefully Production I.G. can maintain that when they do the TV series.

...this one about the idea of collections and its effect on other people.

Hmmm, after watching the first episode, I think it's official that there WON'T be any Tsubasa Chronicles crossover; Watanuki has already found the black Mokona in the back celler without the white one.

This was a bit slow paced than I expected though it should pick up in the next episode with one of the manga's plot, and that's the one with the woman and the ring. The OP sequence was pretty trippy and mysterious, and people should recognize the singer from Boogiepop Phantom. At least the ED sequence featured black Mokona dancing! So far the first half of the episode was a pretty good adaptation of the manga (mostly how Watanuki first met Yuuko, the deal he made, and the whole "equilvalant exchange" bit) though the second half is where it diverges slighty where it emphasizes with the wish theme (a dark spirit that used to follow Watanuki now got transfered to a high school girl because she wished for it).
