Best In Show @ Otafest 2009 (The Monolith Monsters)

This video's currently premiering over at the Momocon Exhibition. I may be jumping the gun a bit releasing this today. Anyhow, it's a trailer to the 1950's sci-fi film "The Monolith Monsters". I've got a brief description of the movie on the video information page.

This video does have something to do with Pi, but it's more of a one-liner than a full amv.

I'm glad you liked them. Out of curiosity, what would you consider to be a challenge to edit?

Nah, you didn't offend me. Like I said, I was just curious what you considered a challenge. I'll agree that the Pi one didn't take much effort; wasn't meant to be much from the start. Just kind of a random gag I had floating in my head a few months after doing YTMND AMV: Commander in Fad.

As for the Monolith Monsters, I'd never done a trailer before; so that was a bit of a switch for me. For whatever reason, finding scenes of the characters I wanted talking with the right expressions/clothing was a pain. For instance, finding a dialogue shot of Murakumo (the "doctor" in the video) actually looking concerned and not smug. Honestly, this took me far longer to make than I expected it to; for the above reason (doesn't help that I didn't rewatch the series before making this and the last time I watched Blue Seed was 2 years ago). Anyhow, I'm rambling at this rate.

damn - did that song ever end?
But nice.

Dude - your vids are good because I think they're technically done well, and they're fun. Really made me chuckle to see the old-style movie resemblance. Put all the little touches in too, like the film... grain or noise? whatever it is ;) You're really good at making bad-quality AMVs. :P
THEY WISH they had those effects back in those days. XD

On the other hand, I'm starting to get a bit worried about you - you watch those? XDDD (you didn't mention what the Momocon theme actually was)

Song yes, number no.

Umm...thanks I guess??

If you mean by "those" campy sci-fi and horror films, then yes. I was raised on them. If you think this one was worrisome, then you should see what I've got coming down the road.

Also, greatest quick comment ever:

I'm just bumping this since The Monolith Monsters took Best In Show at Otafest 2009.

Still really surprised I won.
