thanks a lot for the comments.

i've had several people point out the letterboxing, however the reason i kept it was because
a. that's how the original source material was presented
b. EADFAG said to try and have a 16:9 aspect ratio which is what the letterboxing did so i just left it the way it was, true you cant full screen it but since i never had a problem with it when watching the original DF i didnt feel it would be a problem to leave it that way with the amv.
leahzero wrote: - Sync could have been more deliberate and powerful. Feels like there were many small missed moments.
for sync, i tried to make everything internally synced for the most part, basically whenever there was a hard beat i tried to match it with someone's punch, kick or someone being thrown against a wall or something. the problem is that there is so much action going on that for people who dont know exactly what i'm trying to sync it is difficult to see what actions i was trying to sync. and yes there were a few parts where i just let an action sequence flow to the general sound of the music without too much sync as i didnt really have enough material at that particular scene to have perfect sync.
leahzero wrote: - Flow basically follows the chronology of the original. Could have been much more exciting for those familiar with the source if it was significantly rearranged.
this amv was meant as sort of an intro for people who had not seen the series as i know many have not. i tested it out on my cousin who had never heard of DF, monty oum or even haloid and he completely went nuts, which was the desired result. and i didnt really think about the sequence all that much, i just took scenes that i felt best matched up to certain points of the song and put them in place (hence why the laval part is before the scene of them running down the building).

also, i thought for people who had not seen the series, it would be very confusing if suddenly there was a scene where riona was fighting, and then suddenly she is gone from the next fighting scene because it was a scene that happened before she entered, i can just see the comments of "WTF did you put RIONA, dont kick her out of the amv half way through!"
leahzero wrote: - Wished there were more transitions like the lava scene one.
That had mostly to do with the music, i wanted to stuff as much action as possible into the 3 minutes 30 seconds i could, it just so happened that at that part the music just didnt really match with fighting so i did a trasition instead. for the rest of the song the music just happened to fit fighting scenes i wanted to include so i didnt want to leave out any of them for more transitions.

although i think the part where Ayane blows up the top of the tower and the FF girls run fromt the explosion and jump off could be considered a transition.

blame that on monty oum lol, i noticed while making the amv that about 2/3 of all the best action/finishing moves were done by Tifa alone, half the time she is single handedly owning the other team solo. not that i'm complaining as i love Tifa but i understand that fans of the other girls might feel a bit jipped about that.

ZOMG I DID A PANEL WITH THAT GUY MONTY OUM ZOMG

In all seriousness [Even though I really did do a panel with Monty and ZS] I really didn't like the video. It felt uber generic to me and aside from the source itself it didn't do anything we haven't seen before.

5.4/10
