Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

 A shinkai movie that doesn't involve the characters being far apart?!

Children Who Chase Lost Voices falls under that category. If anything I think this movie is a big throwback to his old formula of slightly hokey straight people romance.

As for the AMV itself: Not bad, although I would imagine I'm only watching it because there hasn't been a deluge of fantastic Garden of Words AMVs yet, considering your song choice. On a technical note, I saw some strange frame blending (couldn't tell if it was just slow-downs gone awry or a more serious framerate problem; MediaInfo flags the video as 24fps which is almost correct) and surprisingly poor compression artifacts, which was a little disappointing considering the astounding RAW quality available to us.

Still, despite the flaws, it's very clear to me that you made this video in earnest and put a lot of thought behind it.

Hey thanks. Honestly I'm not sure how quality degradation occurred. My original source was definitely better than that. Even the credits had banding on my original lossless render. My only guess at this point is my outdated editor or maybe even codecs.

I enjoyed this! The anime and song combo were perfect, and it was really well edited overall. My only issue is that, as xexyzl noted, the video quality could have been better, but that's a minor complaint.
