Anyone else who can't sleep out there?

Post by Toecutter » Tue Aug 26, 2003 4:26 am

Well, it's 2:20am PST, and I still can't sleep! It doesn't matter how much exercise I get, if I only eat one meal a day, or even if I get less than two hours of sleep the night before. I just can't sleep!

Even when I can sleep, I don't get any REM sleep until 8am, and it lasts only until 10am. If I sleep more than 4 hours, I wake up the next day feeling as though I was hit by a truck. If I get less than 4 hours, I'm exhausted, but it doesn't hurt like hell when I try to move.

Anyone else out there in my shoes?

So just sleep in four-hour shifts.

And be ready to confront the tiny doctors with the scissors
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

That's the thing: I don't drink coffee, soda, or any fluids with a decent level of caffine (I think the only thing I drink that has any caffine in it is Sunny D). Otherwise, I stick to 2% milk (when there's no 3.8%, or Half and Half around), and water.

Maybe I need to start reading after watching Adult Swim, just to help me unwind.

Hmm.. Milk should do that trick.. Are you unusually stressed out or something... I know alot of people lately suffering from insomnia.. me being one of them.. I think theres just not enough time in the day to sleep.. You either are dealing with life (i mean this in a general term for all of us... School/Work/Family/Housework/Grocery Shopping/Paying Bills/The whole Nine yards) Then we all need to shower, eat and the nesc. stuff, and then If your like me.. you wanna edit and work on a amv, then you wanna browse forums and or chat, then you watch tv, go out with friends, etc... Where the hell is there time in the day to sleep anymore..
As for reading after adult swim.. lotsa people read and says it helps

I wish you some rest and well being..
If all else fails.. Take some Nytols, they help you get your ZzzzZ's or even maybe seeing your doctor.. they have some great medications out there you take for less then a week and help you get on a sleep schedule..
(Why I dont take my own advice I'll never know, Im stubborn)
Good Luck..
/me sings Jigglypuff song to you, to make you dream beautiful dreams

Yeah, I think stress is part of the problem. I'm usually so pissed off with things that are going on, I need to listen to the Fox News Channel to sleep (I run the audio signal from my vcr to my stereo, so I don't have to use the tv all night). I really need to get back out to the forest, and exercise my trigger finger with some 100 yard targets.

I dont know if this helps but i listen to piano or jazz music when I cant sleep. I have plenty of CDS too so i always find something new. Although sometimes it can backfire and instead it will keep me awake. :)
Why do we try to keep our sanity when losing it is so much more fun?

Well, reading last night worked relatively well. I got to sleep around 1:45am, which is about an hour or two earlier than I normally crash. Thanks for the advice.

I usually get like that when I'm wired, or if I'm stressing about the next day. I usually put my face on my pillow; the lack of oxygen gets me to fall asleep.
