"Super Duper Sumos" isn't Japanese, but it definitely is a cartoon.

This is a place for Anime. This non-Japanese cartoon "Super Duper Sumos" shouldn't be affiliated with www.animemusicvideos.org in anyway. If you wanna talk about it, fine. But a a-m-v.org logo with it?!

Two things on this post, but they're merely my opinions on the topic.

First, according to sign-up dates, Truest-Chaos was here before you.

Second, Anime is short for Animation, Which is what cartoons are.

Cartoons is just a slang term that started quite a while back.

If you want to say Japanese animation is different than American animation, then that is true, but it only goes Genre, and Story, Character, ect. deep.

All in all, they are ALL cartoons.

Hell, you could call American cartoons Anime if you really wanted!

Anime is just what people like to say, because Japanese animation is just too long, and people call American animation Cartoons, because that's what we're used to hearing, and vice versa on Anime and Cartoons.

That was my 2 cents.

Everything you said is true but this one. It's all based on opinion at heart. Anime is what the Japanese call animation and not short for anything

Anime is an abbreviation of Animation.

The Japanese tend to abbreviate english words that they themselves have no equivalent for.

Well, I consider an abbreviation more like cartoon becoming 'toon. Anime seems like more of a slang term that caught on.

Ugh... I hate it so damn much when people call them 'toons.

Anyway, yes, most slang terms are "modified" abbreviations.

Sometimes, they can be cut up so badly, you don't even recognize them anymore!

Yes, Anime does seem like a slang term... Kind of like Movie is for Motion Picture.
