Well, i don't know about insomnia, but i tend to have my sleep cycle off everyone elses by about 6 hours. Plus i sleep between 10 and 14 hours a day and that just doesn't seem normal. who knows. I feel for you man.

Damnnit, I can't sleep again. My brain just won't shut off, and anytime my brain wants to stay awake, it somehow kicks my body into overdrive. I could go 12 hours without food, get only two hours of sleep the night before, and there would still be boundless energy just waiting for my brain to tap into it. I have too high a metabolism for my own good.
Decided not to read tonight. Slayers is on until 2am, and then I have to get up before 7:30am, so I won't have time to read, unless I sacrifice what little subbed anime I watch. As an anime fan, I have my priorities.
Other than drugs or counselling, are there any other techniques for forcing the human body to sleep?

I had a friend with really bad insomina... I think the doctor recomended all the stuff that's been said (bar madmag9999's comment) but he also said to get a special kind of lightblubs inside the house. You see my friend didn't spend much time outside and there was something about sunlight helping to regualate sleep patterns. I can't remember exactly what type of globe it was but I can ask her if you want later on.

Sunlight isn't really a problem for me. I work five days a week as a delivery driver for Domino's during the afternoon, and deliver on the weekend lunch shifts, so I get plenty of sun.
The problem is I have so much energy, and no matter what I do, I can't burn it all. Today, for example, I went without food for 15 hours, and got maybe 3 hours or less of sleep last night, but I still had more than enough energy to keep me going for 11 hours of work (11am-7:30pm at my normal store, and then I was transferred to a Domino's struggling just to get their pizzas to the customer an hour late), and I could still easily have jogged a mile if I wanted to. I just ate "lunch" a half hour ago, and I've got to run all of my laundry before 10am tomorrow morning, so I can have a clean uniform for the lunch shift tomorrow.
What's really damn amusing, though, is my incredibly high metabolism. On a regular evening, I can consume half a cubic foot of rice (flavored with chicken boullion and margarine, not plain), three good slabs of London Broil, 4 glasses of milk, along with a helping or two of random vegetables, yet not gain a pound! No matter how much I eat, I still remain 145 pounds on a 5'10" frame. If I go on my usual two meals a day (like today), and minimize my activity, I can stablize myself at around 140 pounds.
There's also the downside prospect of going senile in my mid 40's (which my father is doing right now, or it's just his time of the month, we can't tell which).
However, my genetics do give me quite a few advantages, including a long, healthy life (we're talking late 90's, to early 100's, while smoking, drinking, and refusing to see a doctor on a regular basis).
So, now you know the extent of my problem: way too much energy, and not a hard enough life in the 20th/21st Century to burn it off.
