It's true that it could be explained in simpler terms but that would take longer and use more words and then we wouldn't feel special

It's kinda like the abbreviations people use here in the org
amv, DBZ, EoE...etc
Otohiko wrote:Yea, I have come across a few articles by Chinese and Japanese scientists, but actually - except some funny word choices, they don't differ much from what the native English speakers produce...
That's good. One of the Professors here says it's easier to correct a paper from a foreign language student since according to what language they speak they make the same mistakes.
Otohiko wrote:But who cares  hehe, sorry to make you read that - you deserve a virtual cookie  I really don't bother figuring out what all those things mean - I just make sure they're spelled right.
mmmm... cookie :)

Hey you've reminded me of this article a friend wrote using scientific terms that sounded rude and crude if you didn't know what they meant.

Sentence structure isn't all that hard in German, my biggest gripe is having to know wether something is masculine/feminine/neutral and using words in their plural forms.

Is the german written grammer or spoken grammer more complecated? or are they both just ... <whap> ... you get what i'm trying to say ... Because German is actualy a language i'd like to try learning ... along with japanese and Italian (a language i forgot how to speak ... danm). just curious about what i'm up against in the german end of the court.
Same question, only more intense.

Heh. I dont know what it is about Tae Kwon-Do, but I just hate it so much. If I ever learn a martial art style its gonna be Jeet Kune Do. Anyway yeah I wanna learn any one of the following languages. German, Japanese, Russian, Latin.

meh, a friend of my fathers was my teacher for about ... 3 1/2 years ... thats probalby why i took it when i was younger ... But it's an interesting art ... at least when Sonya uses it in MK deadly alliance it looks amazing ... god it's fast ... But Jeet Kune Do also looks pretty good too ... though the only people i've seen use it (that i've been able to identify) are Spike and Jhonny Cage (also from MK). yea i know Bruce Lee invented it ... but he also knew a lot of other arts ... I want to pick it back up again though because i was red belt when my schools closed, two belts away from my black. Whats funny though, is Tai-Chi is supposed to be an amazing art of you know how to use it ... i've heard some interesting stories about old tai-chi masters who were more or less invincable ... but odds are they are just stories ... which is pretty sad thouhg.

But back to languages ... the reasons why i want to learn the ones i mentioned is
1. Italian is the first language i spoke, then i went to school and forgot it an learned english.
2. I like the way German sounds.
3. I also like the way Japanese sounds, plus being an anime fan it would be nice to be able to watch undubbed/unsubbed anime.

But i ahve a feeling that to get a basic grasp of German and japanese it's going to take me quite a while ... I already have a basic grasp of italian ... since i didn't forget all of it, i still live with my grand parents and listen to them all the time. But after a while you stop picking up new words from their shouting ... it gets really repetitive and boring ...

Yea, in German the gender thing does seem a bit illogical at first. Then there's also the case system. Gotta watch out for that.

German would still be easier for an English speaker to learn than Japanese.

With Japanese - I still read the subs, but understanding most of what they say makes a different viewing experience... you catch all sorts of little things the subs don't quite translate.

Now... I better settle down with typing here - i seem to be falling behind on my work!
