insomnia is the mother of invention

Post by Gaikotsu » Tue Oct 28, 2003 4:11 am

*sigh* It's around 4 am right now, and for the life of me I can't get to sleep. So I decided to fiddle around in photoshop a bit to finally give my avatar a bit of a Halloween update. Comment if you want, or don't. In the meantime, here's a poem:

Insomnia

Restless I lay here
Staring vainly at these same four walls
At this same darkened ceiling

These familiar surroundings,
This cold empty bed
Offer no comfort, no aid in my search

They refuse to disappear
Stubbornly holding me here,
A captive of my own consciousness
Who knows what fires burn in the souls of others, or what burdens weigh upon their hearts?

I don't have insomnia... but I just don't like going to sleep.
I feel like I'm wasting my time.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Why? I don't recall Isomnia being a member of Zappa's old band

I can get you some poetry too... only mine will originate from procrastination.

Well... no, they just originate from me trying to slack off as much as possible from doing other things I ought to be doing, like schoolwork or just general work.

So... you can expect it. Give me uh... 15 minutes that I'm supposed to spend reading up for my lab later on this afternoon.

I finally ended up drifting off at around 6 am last nigh. . . er, this morning. At least I can work on my sculpture project outside of class, so hopefully my professor won't be too pissed off at me.

And yes, insomnia does suck. Either you lay in bed and try to fall asleep, or you give up and do something else, which only results in keeping you up longer. Or you take nyquil, which makes you sleep through your alarm anyway. :?

Ick. I've never liked milk, warm or otherwise. I think I might be a bit lactose intolerant, so that's part of the reason. Thanks for the suggestion though.
