Very funny, Mr. Pilkington!

Too many guns to buy, and so little time! I still want to get my hands on a pre-'64 or the new 2003 Classic Winchester Model 70 (which has another extractor claw in the bolt assembly, allowing for positive feeding of a cartridge, even if you're pinned upside down, being mauled by a bear) in .375 Weatherby Magnum (the improved version of the .375 H&H Magnum).

True, there are plenty of .40-.50 caliber short and long action Magnum cartridges out there for big game hunting, most notably the .458 Winchester Magnum. However, the .375 H&H Magnum has both accuracy, reasonable recoil, and decent stopping power up to 200 yards. The .375 Weatherby had an improved casing, which makes it more short-action Magnum rifle friendly. Up to that point, the .375 H&H, with it's belted casing, was only capable of being used in long-action Magnum rifles.

I know, too much gun-tech for the forums. If you want to know more about rifles/handguns/shotguns/assault rifles )v(ajin Koji, go to the following site:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/index2.guns.htm

This site is where I go to answer all my gun-tech questions, and compare with American Rifleman magazine, Guns and Ammo, etc.

Get a Man's gun. Trust me, nothing is better than a DE.50! Nothing.

The .50 Action Express may be more powerful, but the .44 Magnum has, you know, CLASS. I've heard it's not a good idea to shoot one of those too much in a day, though - the recoil can wear your arms out.

The Mark XIX Desert Eagle in .50 Action Express (which uses the same rotary bolt for the .44 Magnum chambering) is a decent big game weapon. However, for a little extra money, you can get an ever better autoloading big game pistol: the .475 Wildey Magnum

Okay, now a new question: Does anyone know the typical MSRP for Remington Premier® HEVI-SHOT in 00 buckshot? I'm looking at the 1 1/8 ounce powder, 2 3/4" 12 gauge shotshell, with a muzzle velocity of 1325 ft/sec. The HEVI-SHOT 00 buckshot is made of a tungsten-based alloy, which offers a tighter shot grouping, and heavier (meaning more penetration and internal trauma) than lead 00 buckshot.

Also, how much of a price difference is there between Remington Premier® HEVI-SHOT and the Remington Premier® STS Target loads in size 9 shot? I want to know, once I invest in that Mossberg Persuader, if it is more efficient to use target loads for practice, and then switch to 00 buckshot for home defense. If the cost isn't too much, I'd prefer to stick with 00 buckshot for target practice, so I can acclimate to the Persuader's performance in CQB/home-defense situations. Obviously, there is a major difference in felt recoil, shot grouping, and shot trajectory. However, I don't want to go broke doing target practice, just so I can spend another $30,000 in court fees defending my right to protect myself.
