a few questions from a newb xD
Does need some advice on making amvs. My first question: does that amvapp thing work on vista 64? What about using fansubs with direct vob sub (or whatever its called, that thing where you can turn the subs off/hide or something o.O ) anyways, I have been reading the how-to's and stuff on the main amv pages, but anything helps; even if its a little redundant.

Using fansubs for your amv's is frowned upon. fyi

I don't see why amvapp wouldn't work on Vista 64. It works fine on 32.
We have ethical standards in this site's, er, I guess we could call them Phade Laws. As such we do not discuss the use of fansubs. Perhaps that can be seen as hyporitical, but it is a view which is defended quite fiercely. Certainly, you can use them, and someone on this site may even give you step by step instructions. It won't be me, but I will tell you the software you need to edit will allow you to use many types of footage, including fansubs. That is not implied approval, but rather a statement of fact.
Also, have you read my sticky at the top of this page?

from what I know the Avisynth tests don't work on Vista but the application itself does work, other than that I don't know of any known problems with the amvapp and Vista...

Re: a few questions from a newb xD
WAHHHH! I hope its only frowned upon because of not supporting the industry, cause not everyone has the means/money to buy/play the latest anime from japan. When I have the money I buy the dvd's when they come out in the U.S. (I just hate waiting for a series that may never be licensed) Thats where my source material will be from anyways (dvds), so there shouldn't be an ethics problem right
? Thats why I was asking about the amvapp and stuff working on vista.
Although, I don't have an entire wall of anime like some pictures I've seen posted here (its still a pretty good collection though, that my friends and parents say I spend way too much on
)
Well thanks for the input.

From what has been run in my studio, I would say this is accurate. X64 should have no problem, and just like x86, I would expect the tests to fail, but that's it.JaddziaDax wrote:from what I know the Avisynth tests don't work on Vista but the application itself does work, other than that I don't know of any known problems with the amvapp and Vista...

It's also usually frowned upon because of the fact that they tend to look worse as well (this isn't always true, particularly in the case of HD material*, but generally speaking).Kaze_no_natsu wrote:WAHHHH! *Compared to a nominal DVD release; of course this doesn't hold water when talking about Blu-ray.
CDJapan is your friend, though.
