singer/songwriter looking for amv producers

Post by mandyleighstorm » Tue Aug 12, 2008 10:38 am

Hi all, I hope I`m posting in roughly the right place (been looking at all the forum sections and this seemed the best, though not perfect), if it isn't, oops, sorry :)

I'm a singer/songwriter with an album out, and I'd love to have my music used for some anime music video's. I was looking around YouTube for animations of butterfly's and came across some excellent anime video's and thought wow! that style would really suit my music (some of which is kinda hippy, which is why I was looking at butterfly animations :) ).

Anyway, if anyone is interested in putting together one, some or however many anime music video's that can be seen all over the web, please have a listen to the songs at www.mandyleigh.com and contact me if there's any that you'd like to use and I`ll email it (and the lyrics) to you.

I think you may like 'Keep The Silence', 'Cry Hard' and 'Alive' the most.

Love always,

Mandyleigh xxx

The main thing is, amvs are techniquly illegal. Are you just saying it's okay for amv editors to make videos using your music? or are you trying to get someone to do it as an official video for your music?

nothing to make any money from. I just loved what I saw on Youtube and it would just be great if some of my songs were done to anime. I wasn't into the 'Butterfly' song I saw a load of anime versions of on Youtube, but the artwork was amazing.

I wouldn't have any video on my label, but I`d definitely link to it from my website, or even have it on my website if possible.

btw, I don't think the anime tv shows/games/movies etc are bothered that fans do music video's using their artwork, as it's not for profit and it actually helps to promote the anime show/game/movie. How much new stuff have you discovered just by watching those amv's?

If it's not allowed, or uncool or whatever, then that's fine. I don't want to upset anyone.

But if anyone likes my song(s) enough to use them in an amv, I would be honoured.

I hate how your website only moves when you move the mouse up and down, that's annoying as crap. I'd say get that changed to just a scroller or whatever. As for the songs.. listening to a couple now.

i think having links to them on your website wouldnt be a problem, having them on your website probably wont be an issue either. People post amvs on their blogs and streaming on their websites all the time, i've had a couple people ask if they could link some of my vids on boochsack to their sites, why they would want to is beyond me but it isnt a problem.

where it becomes an issue is if you use it for directly promoting yourself like putting it on DVDs and distributing it or using them in commercials etc.

btw, is it just me or has there been a rise in music artists coming here and asking people to do videos for them? i've seen several threads of that sort just in the past few weeks, there's another still on this page i think.

Yeah I've noticed an increase in that too;

Though I actually kind of like it despite the confusion each time since we have to figure out just what it is the artist is asking of us so we don't cross any lines. It's certainly a much more welcome interaction with artists than COULD occur.

As long as we make sure they can't use this for any official promotional material I think we should accommodate them.

Provided we like the music of course.

To the OP: It's not about you directly profiting, but (as pathetic as this sounds) if people get into your music because of the videos they see with it, then you are indirectly profiting from the deal - lots of people here argue about the music industry getting publicity via our work and you can't argue both ways about downloads influencing the market (unless CP is involved, of course).
