Hi, I took a long break from making AMV's (because of school, home, computer problems, etc.) but after a year, I have decided to go back to making AMV's. But I need help in developing my ideas (my friends at home do not know much about making AMV's and are not very helpful). I have picked anime series that I really want to make AMV's of, but no song choices. I have the general idea that I want the video to be of, but I still need advice and help.
1) My sister has been pushing me to do a Mushishi amv, and now I really want to make Mushishi amv. The anime series does not have action, or romance. The series centers around one man who travels and he encounters different situations that involve "mushi" these little supernatural-hard-to-explain primeval body of life. And he encounters the supernatural as he investigates. (the series has the same feeling of Kino's Journey). I wanted the video to be mello, and have the video about his journey, his traveling and encounting these wonders, he meets new people and see's the supernatural. Looking for a laid-back, cool song. (Hard to describe, sorry).
2) I have been itching to make a Chrono Crusade Amv too (I love the series but I was never able to make one). I wanted this video to have action and drama, I really don't have much development in this idea besides I really want to make an action/drama AMV of Chrono Crusade that includes Rosette's struggles, past, and fighting. i did not want to include much romance...I was thinking of having a rock song for this AMV....Not much to work with....
3) The last anime I wanted to make an AMV of was Full Metal Alchemist (I am sorry that I jumped on the FMA bandwagon, but I have all the DVDs and I thought, why not?). I definitly wanted this AMV to be centered around Ed and his relationship with Alphonse. I wanted to include action, drama, and sentimental. Ed's determination in creating a better life for his younger brother is very admirable. I wanted to describe their journey from the beginning, when they first tried to revive their mom and have fight senses, sad scenes, and plenty of drama. I was considering using the band Decyfer Down (I'll Breathe for You), but I need some advice.
4) And of course, I have songs that I want to use but no anime series that fit them! I don't want this thread to be any longer than it is now, (sorry), but I have the songs: Unbreakable by Fireflight, Haunted by Kelly Clarkson, Fight Like This by Decyfer Down (I love that band), and Tomorrow by SR-17. I love those songs with a passion, so much that I have to make an AMV with them, but I am clueless...
You don't have to help me with them all. Even a little bit advice on one would be enough! If you don't like one of my ideas, tell me! If I can at least develop on one of these ideas, I can get started on making an AMV. I just know I really need help. Please and thank you!
Some AMV making advice? Need help in development.

Sound and Vision
From the album Low by David Bowie, 1977, re-mastered 1999, the song Sound and vision may be worth a listen. I think this is one of Bowie's best from that era, produced by Brian Eno at the dawn of New Wave and Punk.
Sound And Vision
David Bowie
Ahhh...
Ahhh...
Doo, doo, doo, do-doh
Doo, doo, doo, do-doh
Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision
Blue, blue, electric blue
That's the colour of my room
Where I will live
Blue, blue
Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say
Blue, blue
I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude, over my head
Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision
Singing "blue blue...thats the colour of my room" reminds me that Ginko wanders under the sky, the world is his room.
He, like Ginko, has "...the gift of sound and Vision".
Good luck and welcome back.

What I do sometimes is to listen to my ipod while looking at my anime collection, and see if something clicks.

Yea, I haven't actually MADE an amv yet... (heh, heh, heh..) but After I watch an anime, and then listen to my music on iTunes, I sometimes am like, whoa! and I find a song that just like, clicks! for me... like JaddziaDax said, just go through your music collecton and see what you think is good!
Also, I find it's helpful to instead of matching an anime to a song (Which is trying to match a broad idea with a itty, bitty song, is sometimes hard. Better yet, try and find a song first. This way you can:
A) Have a song (Yay!)
B) Usually this song reflects a certain theme, or event that happens within the series.
----For example, for Naruto (I'm guessing everyone/ a lot of people have seen this, so you should be able to relate) maybe the song, Face Down (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) might click. Why? Well when listening to the song the first time, I think, "gee golly whiz! this song reminds me of the relationship between naruto, sakura, and saskue!" When you narrow it down to a certain theme, or in this case, more of a theme, you now know what to look for when you are browsing your clips for your amv.
C) The more you listen to the song, you'll start to realize the tempo, beats, timing, and I find that I remember like, "ooh! at 1:30 to 1:35, that scene with sakura and saskue would be perfect, since the music isn't as face paced, and it isn't a fight scene!"
Ok, after that gargled ramble, for me, I find it's best to just sit down. Relax, eat a cookie, listen to some music, and just see what clicks! So, that wasn't exactly what you were looking for, but for the songs that you want to use, but no anime fits them.... that's letter D)! ^^ (yay.)
D) Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics! I believe on this websites main site it says to print the lyrics out... and might I say is good advice! (I found most of the stuff in the get started part helpful lol, so sorry if I'm reguritating stuff that I glossed over when I was reading the guide ^^;) Anywhoooo.... for the Kelly Clarkson lyrics, don' try to force something to fit to it, just ask yourself questions... "Do I know any anime characters that are expecially needy that this song would go along with them?" "Is there a character that feels particularly burdened by a relationship?", etc. Sooner or later it will come to you, most of the time when your not even looking for it!
