Thoughts on AnimeNewsNetwork article....
Kadokawa, YouTube to Share Ads on User-Generated Videos
So...does this seem like a turn to get AMVs more out there and legitimized? Good or bad idea?
Of course I'm sure lots of other problems will crop up...like English rights and music rights but then again those that give permission would get tons of exposure.
Thoughts?

It's because UTube is in the title. Try going to this page 1st:

Then clicking on the "Kadokawa, Y o uTube to Share Ads on User-Generated Videos" article. Quite interesting.

Interesting bit of news. I like the direction that this might eventually lead. However, there is also the other part that you brought up. The music industry is still trying to figure out how to leverage technology to make them money with all of us dirty pirates out here. And bringing more attention to us in the past hasn't always gone over well (no evanesence or creed because of it). So for now I'll hope that the good comes instead of the badMishaGirl wrote:So...does this seem like a turn to get AMVs more out there and legitimized? Good or bad idea?

Thank you very much.
Very interesting, it would be good if the agreement is extended to other companies anime!

On the music side, UMG is doing something similar. (previously discussed, but in the donators forum)Immorrel wrote:The music industry is still trying to figure out how to leverage technology to make them money
What I also find interesting (more so to vidders) is this article that xstylus posted on LJ: Hollywood actors face an image problem.

Might it sweep out the tons of really really crapy videos out there? What do you think?
It might even be a step forward to establish an higher standards for really new ones in this hobby. I mean some stuff is just plain bad that has no excuse. Even for a beginner.

Ohhh- good point! If everyone knows the work is going to be judged, I think everyone will strive to meet that bar of worthiness or not bother with sub-par vids.Bauzi wrote:Might it sweep out the tons of really really crapy videos out there? What do you think?

We could see a sudden increase of quality for sure.
But a problem could crop up if they only let in ones that are specifically positive.
What if a great video was made but stressed the negative attribute of a character? Would it then become a censureship sort of issue?
I guess as long as the .org is around it won't matter so much either way.

I don´t think so. I mean it just shows the anime and it makes it some kind of interessting, right? I mean if I would see an advertising vid of the Hellsing OVAs I´m sure that they would show the negative sides of Alucard too. What if a great video was made but stressed the negative attribute of a character? Personaly I´m more afraid that they would cencsor vids that make the anime itself look bad. This could be somehow an example:
Quick Description: I bought the Big Wars DVD. This was a mistake.
But I guess I was able to put together this parody trailer type
thing...![]()
