Ever since anime started being broadcast in high definition in Japan, it's led to the peculiar situation of fansubbers releasing episodes with higher video quality than the official DVDs that are eventually released.
In my opinion, this higher resolution (often as high as the top resolution of a computer monitor) makes quite a difference, and I would love to see anime music videos using HD raws for source footage. I know for a fact that Honey and Clover II was made available in HD, and Darker Than Black is being made available in HD as well. And I'm sure there are several other anime being broadcast in HD that I don't know about.

Well, yes, there are different levels of high definition. I should have clarified what I mean. What I mean is HD-DVD/Blu-ray quality resolution -- 720p and above. And there are several anime that fansub groups and such have made available in resolutions that high. I'm not trying to tell people what sources they should be using. And if it's not practical to use the highest definition source footage available for AMVs, then so be it. I'm merely suggesting it because I think it would be a neat thing to see, especially in major projects like the Reflections of Style videos.

lots of people have suggested that before, and so far there just isnt any anime available in most places in HD... this site doesnt advocate downloading your footage illegally and as for fansubs/raws out there that are supposedly in "HD" I've been hearing that most of them arent actually HD but upscales from either the broadcast or the DVD
