That, and I always love it when a video uses an anime that I've never seen and makes its own storyline. To use a cliche example, Whisper of the Beast does this really well. If I can understand what's going on without having seen the anime, that shows that the editor did something right.

But it depends a lot on the AMV. I like all kinds of AMVs for various reasons. You kind of have to take it on a case-by-case basis.

Same here...it's a bunch of things. You can get technical, but those things are more academic, and sometimes academic can't beat emotion.

I love it when people try figuring out the rules of a good amv. Zarx had it right, a good AMV is one that's entertaining. I could easily find videos that prove any rule other than that wrong.
