I am suggesting to the administrators of the site to maybe open up a more broad catagory for non anime vids, the only reason you are seein it posted in here , i wanna get a general idea from you guys what you think about someone who can make a vid easier with movies than with animation. some might not see what the difference is , i am accepting that aspect of it . i am also apologizing for any derrogatory statements i might have said about this room , its not that people dont wanna see my videos, its that i am impatient and my videos dont fall into a popular catagory that people wanna see. so its not a waste of time for new ANIME video creators. I just wanna get your feedback about people to take the same amount of time and effort to make these videos , or possibly direct me to any site that has groups of people like yourselves that make MMV (movie music videos)

I actually would be very receptive to the idea of a broader category of music videos, the MMV's. I'd love to see what people do with them. In general, it seems that there are many more movies than AMV series....I've seen about 5 million videos using Eva, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, FLCL, DBZ, and ten others. But there are MANY, MANY movies out there, and the number of combinations is large.

HOWEVER, this IS www.ANIMEmusicvideos.org. As much as I'd like to expand the site, it's purpose is to promote the subgenre of anime music videos. Maybe there's someone out there who's willing to make a www.moviemusicvideos.org or something....

Any other thoughts?

I've made a few myself (mostly for classes) and I do catalogue them here. I see nothing wrong with it.

This is not something that can be solved with an expansion of the video classification system. If people don't want to see non-anime music videos, then people don't want to see non-anime music videos.

Super Search gives people quite a bit of searching power to find what they want to find. Maybe the day will come when Phade will let us enter in raw SQL queries for those of us who like doing it, or just want to feel l33t. (Although, I really doubt that will happen, given the massive potential for abuse. But I digress.) Therefore, if somebody wants to find a music video set to footage of Tomb Raider to Rammstein music, it's pretty easy to do such a thing. I fail to see how expanding the site would do anything to change this situation.

This is www.animemusicvideos.org. Most people are here because (1) they enjoy making anime music videos and/or (2) they enjoy viewing and analyzing anime music videos. What you are seeing in your download count is more indicative of community trends than a site deficiency.

Yes, it is hard to be recognized. But here's an easy way around that: just don't care about being recognized. I gave up on that when I realized that status in the AMV world means precisely dick, and my editing became 500% more enjoyable.

After all, it's the pure pursuit of recognition that lead much of the music world into the festering hellhole that it is today.
