need help getting started

i have been watching and collecting amv for a year or so now. I would like to make some of my own, but i am having a hard time pciking out software. i have never edit or done anything like this and would like some info on software. i am looking at spending some money but i hope it will be less then $500

Did you read the software listings on the site?
It tells about the features of many programs.
One program I recommend is Edit Studio

MS Paint. Seriously, you can do a video in it. Well, mostly. You'd need something to add in the audio when you're done.
