Multi Channel Edditing Challenge ???

Post by eadsja » Fri Aug 11, 2006 4:23 pm

Okay, here is the idea....

Most songs run at similar tempo's right... What could we do about doing one video with a dual MP3 channel to it? Where you have to eddit the video to fit both sets of audo... then during the video... On a whim, the viewer could hit a button and switch back and forth between the two... Kinda of like the Spanish or French Audio tracks on your DVD player...

I do think it would be very difficult to do... But to think, we could be the first to accomplish such a task...

The inovation of the first Dual Music Sequenced Video....

Sure it could be done, but could it be done well???

Well, Let's see here,

First we need to trouble shoot the technical aspects of this... I know through DVD authoring you can get 2 audio tracks. Could it be done through wma or other file? (Does DivX support Multi-Channel Audo).

After we figure out how to put the second audo channel, the thing that will make this whole project idea really sing is if we can make it very easy to switch between the two songs.

Things to keep in mind:

1. Everything after the second audio add in is artistic.
2. This project would be a novelty gag... I seriously doubt that dual music - music videos will become the -NEW- rage.

3. Music selection is going to be difficult:
A. The music must have either the exact same Tempo - or the tempo's must be divisable by one another.... Think of it like math... One has a tempo of 16 BPPM, the next one needs to have either a 16 BPPM or *BPPM or even 4 BPPM...
B. The music needs to have similar music progression... Or our effects and scene slections are going to crap out on us on one song or the other...
C. The music needs to SOUND very different from one another... If not the Novelty of the whole thing is going to fall apart... Like grab two extremes... Rage against the Machine (Killing in the Name of) AND Cold Play.... That's just an example....

Are there any programs out there that are able to play two music strings at once?

Visually, it will take a lot of time and effort to taylor just the visual sequence to corespond with both songs... After that we could use effects, strobes and on screen silly string to help -trick- the watcher into thinking the video was specifically eddited for both audio tracks....

Lot's of technical problems...

That, and here is the question... What anime?
