Well thats a wide open category, but here are some of my fav's. Hope they give you some ideas.

-Flickerstick (Beautiful)
-Hawthorne Heights (Saying Sorry)
-Pillar (Bloody Sunday Tribute)

If you don't mind what language it is, you might try Utada Hikaru's "Letters"... the verses are nice and "sentimental" to use your word, and the chorus' transition nicely to a more upbeat and fast sorta mood. The rythym, instrumentation, and melody would also make for a great AMV.

Norma Jean always has a nice selection of nice melodic songs.........with not screaming 8-) :)
