Would it be accepted into the Catalog?

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Wed Feb 22, 2006 7:45 am

I thought about this for some days, but in the end I think I'll need your comments to decide if it is possible or not. =)
The site allow videos featuring Japanese games, like the Final Fantasy serie.. I would like to ask.. If another game would be accepted:
It's completely Japanese, it's title is "Shadow Of the Colossus".
What do you think about it? I would love to work on my next project(s) on it, since I have in mind to do a two chapters video. Would it be accepted into the catalog?

Thanks to everyone. :)

Yes that would be allowed, so long as it uses cutscenes and not actual gameplay footage.

Thanks for the answer. =) But.. Let me expose my doubts, since this it's truly important for me.. So, actual game footage is not allowed? In any way? I've saw many Musicvideos featuring games like Suikoden II, with actual gameplay in the video and the best example I can do is the VG3 Project, that it's actually full of gameplay clips. Are you sure of what you said? =O

Thanks again. ;)

Of course you can mix gameplay into your AMV, as long as the majority of the clips is anime or cut scenes which fit the rules. A MV entirely or mostly consisting of gameplay wouldn't be allowed.

Great, jsut great. =) So, as soon as the gamplay is lower than the 51%, it would be allowed.. Ok, I'll take it in count.

P.S.: Maybe it's stupid, but.. Who knows, so I want to ask anyway.. If I "REC" a gameplay in someway that it's like a cut scene, making actually like a film clip, even if it is actual gameplay, how would it be took? As a cut scene? Or as a normal "unacceptable" gameplay?

What I meant was your video can't be nothing but/mostly gameplay footage...as in, footage where we see health meters, ammo counts, damage measurements, dialogue text, ect. If it's in-game cutscenes it's ok...to some extent atleast.

Wowowo wait.. This is interesting.
Sorry if I'm here from a long time and I still don't know well this part of the rules, but I'm really interested, and I thank you all a lot for your help. =)
So.. If I use Gameplay clips where there are N O T any type of information, health, level, ANYTHING.. It would be considered as a cut scene? (If well registered, also).

Simply said: all what you can control with joystick/keyboard/mouse or whatever is gameplay. All what is played whithout that you can influence it are cut scenes. So for gameplay it doesn't matter if you can see breath/health and so on. As long as you could control it during the game it remains gameplay.

Ok, understood. I'll try to find a balance to make the cutscenes "prevale"...
Thanks a lot for your help, it's been truly helpful.

When I'll have the video finished (and it will take some long time, since I even don't have a second of footage and I'll not have it for some time..), you think it would be a good idea to show it to Phade to hear if he think it's acceptable for the site? And, if I think I done a good work, and I mean if I think I've done a video when the majority of clips are truly cutscenes, and I host it, if somenone says I'm wrong, will the video be deleted or I'll end in some harder sanction?

OMG I'm feeling N00b

If you're not sure if the vid fits the site rules, contact Vlad G Pohnert. He's the admin responsible for video entries.
