are amv legal or illegal ?

Small important question.... are amv restricted by some kind of law? what I mean... if using materials for amv (video and music) without knowledge of the producer or whoever is behind creating anime or music... is illegal? Why I am asking? well because I got this great opportunity to be on tv... I was asked to give an interview about amv in a local tv station... but unfortunately I refused 'cause I really don't know if I may do this.. again what I mean is that I don't want to have some problems with law because of doing what I'm doing... well basically I think that It shouldn't matter where video is concerned.. because in amv there are used only small fragments of whole episodes... whereas music is a different kind of story... because it's not just a sample but whole song... so I repeat my question.. is it legal to do amv or not? can I give an interview to a local tv station or not 'cause law will hunt me down?

AMV's are illegal. I wouldn't worry about the anime companies but the jerks at the music industry is our main concern. Also I would advise you not to go on tv and do this interview. You wouldn't be the only one affected by this. If they go after you, they may come after us and shut down the site if this becomes more public. We already had one incident with a creator writing in to the record label and asked them if some of the videos done by Creed, Evanescene and Seether were theirs. Then they order us to take them down and leave it at that. You would have a lot of creators be pretty ticked off if your interview caused the site to shut down. That's just my own perspective, but to answer your question once more YES AMV'S ARE ILLEGAL

Well, thats why I started this topic. I dont want to make trouble not only to me, but to all of us. I live in Poland, but even there, I can make a lot of trouble..... Damn, so thats for nothing..... I study montage on Movie High school , and this could be great commercial for me, in the future....
