I think that if you add them as a colaborator and get their permission it should be ok...

but thats between you and the original creator..

I know the ASM has Sammy listed but there is no local Download...

not sure of what the rules of local download are though :P

if youre just talking about using someone elses footage most people frown upon them...

when i first read your description it reminded me of ASM as they used some of his video clips in their "tribute" lol...

but like i said if youre talking about making a random AMV using clips from another AMV that can get all your videos deleted and you banned from the .org...

BUT if you have their permission its alright... BEST to get PERMISSION BEFORE you try to upload anything...

I have caught several people stealing/taking my clips (me personally) and I wasnt too happy... most editorers i know wont be.... I have come across a few that didnt care though

Thing is alot of people put alot of time into making those clips even if its just cropping off the subs still quite a bit of work goes into a project, so its best to just not do it.

but like i said permission is what gets you by without too much damage....

just dont take edits o.0 or effects o.0

And this issue is one of two reasons it isn't (the other is that insulting other users is specifically mentioned in the rules as not allowed). Although since Sammy actually gave his ok when he accepted collab (which suprised and amused me greatly) this wouldn't have been as big of a deal as I thought.

As far as the original question: If it's a tribute that uses someone elses video then get their permission and list them as collab. If it's a tribute to someone else using their editing style but does not actually us bits of their video don't mention a thing about it and brag about how great you are, that seems to have worked out well for all the Euphoria clones.

Ok thank you, one more question. I downloaded a DBGT episode from limewire and it had the webpage in the corner (episode was used in my first AMV) but when i checked the webpage it was non excistant. would i get banned for having that webpage in the corner?

No you wouldn't get banned for having that webpages logo but you would get taunted mercilessly. If it's avalable on DVD go buy it, this is the best quality and the most ethical way. If it isn't avalable on DVD find some good quality source (on your own, don't ask on the org). Good quality means no logos and few compression artifacts, try for raws if you can. If for whatever reason you decide to use crappy downloaded footage with logos then don't expect any sympathy, tolerance, or help from the org users.
