Woot! (Congratulations)
Congratulations, video community! Videos are starting to get better!
It was awful during 2004 and a bit shaky during most of 2005, but improvments are starting to show through!

And how would you say they've improved out of curiousity?Beowulf wrote:Congratulations, video community! Videos are starting to get better!

Higher op scores! Oh wait, that probably happens every year...Moonlight Soldier wrote:And how would you say they've improved out of curiosity?
Every year Beo does a highly scientific analysis where he downloads 100 random videos from that year and submits them to rigorous statistical testing and a 4 way ANOVA with the last four years. If t<.05 then this years videos are superior (with a %5 chance of error of course.)
...or maybe he just watches a bunch of videos... while drunk...
Kidding aside I believe that this was a pretty good year for AMV's. Of course there are always a few great videos, but it seems to me like the standards are going up and even average videos have improved. I wouldn't say we've had a huge breakthrough in the level of the top videos, but advanced techniques that would have previously been the talk of the community are now more common.
I think, I've noticed a long term trend of less "OMGZOR I IS ON TEH INTERWEBS!" type of posts (especially compared to several years ago) but that may be wishful thinking.
I think that a-m-v.org has become generally a nicer place to be. We got over the Elitism thing. People aren’t wigging out about contests too much. Less people crying about opinions. Less flaming. Less flaimbait. More fans overjoyed at their favorite editors new release.
Be cool, have fun.

Wow, for once there isn't the general attitude that every new video coming out sucks. I think every year since 2002 or so has seen a "where have the golden days gone?" thread.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
