Rei smiles to Taproot

Post by gogetaz9 » Fri Oct 25, 2002 8:08 am

Ok, I have an idea to do an AMV of NGE to "Smile" by Taproot from their first album. I thought I would start the vid be syncing the scene where Rei smiles in the Eva to, Stephen Richards says "SMILE!".
Originally when I had the idea, I thought of doing it as a tribute vid to Rei but, there are some many Rei tribute vids out there already. So I now want to do it to NGE in general. However it might not be a solid idea to follow through on.

If you don't think the idea is solid enough, I recommend solidifying it. Work with the idea. Tinker with it and see if it works better for you. Find a concept to make the video to and stick to it.

I admit, I hadn't thought of Smile as an Eva-esque song. Good luck with it.

Hey Chaos Angel you should listen to the song and see for yourself, if "Smile" is EVA-esque. I think you are right I should look at the idea in more detail and then decide whether or not I want to follow it through.

Always follow your first thought(We've all seen the people on gameshows who don't) Remember though, it never hurts to think something through. I know these seem like opposite ideas but use them in sequence. I like the song, it has got a lot of action and body. Plus I like how the song says one thing but has a completely alterior motive lyrically on a deeper level. Theirs alot of potential with your idea, think it over for a while and try to create some rough sketches of what you would do and see what would float and what wouldn't. In the end if oyu like it go with it, if not Oh well.

My feelings on the matter are that it could be done VERY effectively and nicely, or it could be sloppy and crap. It's not one of those songs that'll be overdone like all of the linkin park ones. It's very unique in it's own way while being at the same time not too unique so as too appeal to a larger audience :)

I hope I was of some help and if not...Oh well

Yeah, thanks I'll take your advice in to consideration when I'm looking the idea over. I also have some other ideas based around some other rarely used tracks and musicians.
But, these ideas, I would like to keep to myself for the moment, as I want to first re-assess the EVA-Smile idea and possibly follow it through after the re-assessment of it.

Maybe you should try the song "When She Smiles". Rei in the series doesn't smile that much and it would seem like it fits. If you do it tell me how is goes out.

It isn't gone be a Rei tribute vid anymore. It will be a NGE vid but, I might put it on hold to work on another idea I've had for a little while.
However after the vast quantities of time and effort I put towards my "RotD GW Wake Up" vid I'm a bit lost for ideas as well, so I will mull over a few other AMV ideas as well as the NGE/Taproot-"Smile" one.

Look at "RotD GW Wake Up", my last uploaded AMVs then write a reply, so you might see what sort of ideas and angles, I have used already.
