Should I help the .org

I was thinking about hosting some footage for fee. I see alot of problem with people riping DVD's and they can't get into Premiere bah bah bah. I am trying different compressions settings and not lose quality. I was going to export the DVD W hunter robin as a test in a image seq with no sound and if the user wanted they could make it a .mov or what ever...I read the rules and everything but I don't know if the .org would let me do this on my server and post a link. Hell I don't even know if there is a demand...

More specificaly it would go against site ethics, and linking to it would go against forum rules. Its also illegal. If someone cant put the time and effort into figuring out how to get footage from a dvd, then they shouldnt be making amv's.

The lack of audio doesn't matter. You would be providing source.

It was nice of you to try and be helpful.

If people sound a little short, well, to tell the truth, this place is on kind of thin ice with groups like the RIAA and US Anime distributors anyway. "Fair use" is a nice legal theory, but if the rubber meets the road, and it's a choice between "shut down quietly and go away, or get sued for many, many millions of dollars by entities with lots of money to throw at lawyers," nobody's going to want to bet on a "fair use" defense.

I don't speak for the admins, but I think that a-m-v.org is still around only because the suits don't terribly mind it. In order to survive, a-m-v.org has to make sure that they keep on not minding.
