How to make a page...
I want to make my own site to put my AMVs on. Does anyone know where I can make a free one? Geocites maybe? Is this even the right place to ask this?

Well, I guess that depends on the perspective. Angelfire allows 20 megs; I'm sure a well-done H264 or XviD encode would fit, but the resolution would probably have to be lower than standard - unless the video was only 1 to 1½ minutes long (like a trailer).pen-pen2002 wrote:You can't get free hosting with enough space to host AMV's (A low quality beta maybe, but not a full video.)
Generally, though, yes; free hosting is better for betas.

But that's for shared hosting, which will provide shitty DL speeds more often than not (compare the .org to geocities. Is there even a comparison?). Dedicated servers are much more expensive, but if you say, I don't know, join a studio you can split the cost and be much more efficient. If you can afford to make amv's (errr, without pirating, bootleging and breaking into computer stores) then $10 a month shouldnt be a problem.

This is most likely the origin of the larger studios as we know thembilly_wires wrote:But that's for shared hosting, which will provide shitty DL speeds more often than not (compare the .org to geocities. Or you could do what I do, and use the hosting space that your university provides, sucking part of that oh-so-nice Internet2 connection.
