People might want to look into this... Possible AMV theft

Post by kiarrens » Sun Mar 20, 2005 2:20 am

It was recently brought to my attention that an "AMV creator" had stolen a short AMV of mine and used it - video effects and all - in her own video. I contacted Site Admin and they deleted the video, but chances are if she did it to me, she may have done it with others' videos. I was extremely angry with this theft of my work and it's possible that yours was stolen as well (she has quite a few AMVs up for download.)
Just a heads up...

The one that used kiarren's Animix segment has been deleted. I think this post is to alert people and check said thief's other videos, just to see if anything else has been stolen...

Nor mine. My videos are mediocre compared to some of the AWESOME stuff here.

I am more afraid of their being made fun of than of someone trying to take credit for them.

As a suggestion, I think the user's vids should all be hidden from the public until someone can determine whether or not she's stolen from any other vids (either by contacting her or by having admins check her catalogue). It seems like the 'Org lacks a comprehensive "stolen AMV footage" policy aside from people creating threads in General AMV or Site Help...

Being the greatest amv'er ever, I allways have to be wary of people stealing footage from my superior creations. However I find it simply too much work to continuosly track down these inferior beings and decide between dismembering their torso and burning their genitalia. These days I just let them be, and take compliment at their theft which only hilights the abundant splendour of my works.

We have a report procedure in the site faq and we ask people to not do it on the request upload page.

Other than that we've been mostly doing things on a case-by-case basis.
