Originality can be a spiritual problem?

I started my last work and I'm pretty disappointed.. I don't know why but I don't like how all is showing out, and more than this, it is a really unoriginal work, first of all because is about Naruto, maybe all this story about how less is Naruto in fact of originality is making my brain and my spirit a little desesperate, can be that I'm actually disliking my own work because is of Naruto? Maybe is this.. Anyway, I have aso another project idea with Naruto (in collaboration with Zotto) and this only make my situation wroster!!

Now, in your opinion, can really the think of 'do an amv like this is absolutely unoriginal.. So why...' be a problem? Or.. More in general do you actually think that sometimes? Me personally I never done that, I always thought the originality as something that should NEVER be a problem for a creator, I always said, 'If you like the anime why don't do videos on that?' The originality factor is never been something important for me, especially because of my way of thinking, but in the last times this is changing... Or..

Maybe the work that I am doing is only horrible and all is been answered without play too much in mind xDDD

He is saying that he didn't expect to lack of originality and he's wondering if:

1)it could be due to the anime he choosed, Naruto (he did lot of amvs on it)

2) maybe it happens because he is not able to do something very original and it's not fault of Naruto.

He is also struggled by the fact that he never thought that originality could be a problem because at the very beginning of his life as amv maker he believed that an amv should just be matching images with a song you like and make it work in an artistical way, so it doesn't matter if you just make another action amv, or another drama amv and so on...
And he is asking us if is so important for us to see a completely original amv, instead of "an old style amv", even if it is really well made, which much efford put in it.

That's what I understood.

Now answering... I really don't care if the amv is original or not, if it's original is of course better, but if it is beautiful, with a song I like, with a correct use of effects.... Originality is the less important factor

So try to focus on doing beautiful amv, rather than original amv. If you became really good, people will say that: "this his is style" instead of: "he does always the same things", think about Elton Jhon LOL

Michele to tell you the truth just go with it. If you like the idea your working on who cares it is unoriginal. I mean I ran into the same problem with my newest video Pain of War. Eventhough it uses a new song some people can't see the partly dramatic and struggle side to it because they see Kenshin. I got voted off the White Angel Forum contest in the third round because of Originality. They have a voting each round based on a different category. Anyway that's why I think the contest should have a weighted percentage score. For Originality shouldn't matter as much as Action Sync or Digital Effects. But it should still count for something. Don't let it get you down that your using Naruto. At first I said I would never do an Evangelion video and I did, and then I feel into using Kenshin. Does this mean I'll over use them myself, no. I'll use them once and a while but nothing to point where it was like my Outlaw Star days. OMG.

I cannot think of two people more suited to do a video together, honestly : )!

I really appreciated your comment and this made me think, really.
Considering your words I thought about some things.. Well, what you said is really the truth in my opinion and I appreciated a lot the possibility to hear your opinion, the problem that is borning within me is that I saw that I made really a lot of 'Naruto' videos, and viewing this I think.. And I discover.. That in the end, I can't do many things else than that, here there are not shops of animes, and if I would download Fansubs, I can't because of my too slow connection (a 56k dial-up), so I'm trapped in this chain, I have to use only the animes that I have at my disposal but now after a little time (not more than one month ;P) of.. Whispering or better after this time of crisis I am accepting this and your opinion is something that really helped me to make the point in my situation, thanks really. In the end I will continue to put the same effort in my videos and so I will do my best to improve originality, but if anyway sometimes will not be possible, I will definitively continue and complete the video anyway of course =)

well of course that sticking to the same thing over and over will hurt your originality, if so then try to expose yourself to some different anime or songs and if still you are suffering from a lack of originality after this then stop making vids for a while, get your hands on some tutorials&tricks in general, then come back and try again with new skills.
