anime music video experimental wiki project

http://yipdw-4.student.rose-hulman.edu/amvwiki/

This was inspired by a post in the LiveJournal vidding community. The author of that post brought up the suggestion of a general wiki for fan-produced vids of all types, and I decided to try out the concept in this community.

A few notes:

This wiki is run Wikimedia Foundation-style, all the way down to the software it runs. That is, you do not need a login to contribute, you may start any number of topics, and you may edit any pages you wish.

With this freedom comes responsibility. Here's the short version:

If it's not allowed here, it's not allowed on the wiki.

This means pornography, cracks, serial numbers, links to warez, etc are not permitted. Posting of such material will be noted and will result in a ban. Conformance to the Wikipedia policies and guidelines would also be appreciated.

Finally, it would be nice to keep this on topic. This is harder to enforce than the first rule; however, keep in mind that this is a wiki for information relating to anime music videos. Those of you with more brains than maliciousness will figure the rest out.

This wiki is an experiment, and as such, stability may be an issue, especially if this becomes popular. My server is slow; it's a Pentium II/400 running on 128MB of RAM. Additionally, I have a transfer quota imposed by Rose-Hulman, so don't be surprised if the wiki becomes inaccessible from time to time. Most likely, it hasn't been hacked; it's just me shutting down the web server for a bit to keep myself from getting shot by RHIT sysadmins.

(Of course, if a .org admin would like to move this to the official .org server, I would have no problem with that :) )

There is currently no information on editing pages in the wiki. However, as it runs the same software as Wikipedia, all editing tags (except for, say, templates and stubs) work in this wiki. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... dit_a_page for editing help.

Have fun!

I lied in the opening post. Everything that works in Wikipedia works here; it's just that we don't (yet) have the wide variety of templates, stubs, etc that they do.

That, of course, can be remedied. :)

Alright -- I was being a little bit of an ass there. The intent was to make it clear that information related to AMVs and only information related to AMVs should be posted on the wiki.

I'm not familiar with a wikipedia page. Exactly what kind of information are you looking to chronicle? There's virtually alot that can be said about AMVs and editing - both the aesthetic and technical aspects.

I think the idea is anything and everything.
