The FullMetal Alchemist/FMA Crossovers Suggestion Thread

Post by Erin_Lightning » Tue Feb 08, 2005 7:41 pm

Welcome to yet another one of my amv suggestion threads. This time I decided to stick to just one anime (easier on my brain) and to give you a little bit better suggestions....(in terms of how to pull off a good amv). So, let this first post act as a guide. Here is the format you'll find the suggestions on this thread in:
Anime: (FullMetal Alchemist, or a Crossover between FMA and something else)
Song: (What song should be used)
Skill Level: (On a scale of 1-5. 1 is a video a beginner could pull off easy, 5 is the hardest, requiring knowledge in quite a few editing techniques)
Focus on: (What characters or theme the video should focus on)
Genre: (What genre the video should be put in)
Lyrics Guide: (The lyrics, as well as, in parenthesis next to each line of lyrics, the footage that would work well)
So, there you go. Everyone is welcome to contribute to this thread, just please use the format above for your posts, and it'd be nice that if you make a video from someone's idea on here, if you'd post that you used it so we can all see the finished product.

(Note to all: I would make these videos myself, but, sadly, I have improper materials once again...*sigh* So, all I can do is give suggestions...While I cannot send you the footage for the videos, you can ask me to send you a selected song, and, chances are, I'll have it.)

Idea #1: Slipped Away

Post by Erin_Lightning » Tue Feb 08, 2005 8:24 pm

Anime: FullMetal Alchemist
Song: "Slipped Away" by Avril Lavigne (Album: Under My Skin)
Skill Level: 1-2 (A newbie in the business could make a decent video of this, but a little more skill would make it quite good, in my opinion)
Focus on: Relationship between Ed, Al and their Mom, as well as a little bit about Maes and Roy's relationship. This video should show a lot of the same scenes, but have a lot of detail. You'll want to make a point with it.
Genre: Drama
Lyrics Guide:

Na na, Na na na na na (In the beginning, open it up with footage of the picture of Ed's family (the one they always show in the opening), and then splice in the picture of Roy and Maes (possibly found in episode 25, I believe.)

(For the first part, focus on Roy and Maes)
I miss you (Here's a good place to throw in the funeral, most likely the footage of Maes being buried)
Miss you so bad (Take it slow. Here you'll want to put something in here, probably the flashback that Maes has to him and Roy just as he's dying)
I don't forget you (Show a little more of the flashback)
Oh it's so sad (Perfect place to put in the "It's raining" gig, with Roy crying at the funeral)
I hope you can hear me (Back to the flashback. By the end of this stanza, you'll have shown most of it, or a good portion)
I remember it clearly (Continue with the flashback just a little longer)

The day you slipped away (Here, show Maes death, from the part where he turns around and sees his wife...)
Was the day I found it won't be the same oh (..to the part where he falls)

Na na, Na na na na na (Here comes the Elric's part. For right here, you might want to put in a little of either Ed and Al running to their mom after hearing about Winry's parents, or possibly just the part with the three of them walking home after Ed and Al transmuted a doll for Winry)

I didn't get around to kiss you (Here, show their mother on her deathbed, talking to the two brothers)
Goodbye on the hand (And continue it so that it shows them holding her hand as she goes limp)
I wish that I could see you again (Show the part from Episode 7 where the mutilated body is discovered. Ed thinks about his mother...)
I know that I can't oh oh oh oh oh (Then realizes he is looking at a corpse)
I hope you can hear me (Ed and Al prepare to do the transmutation of their mother, at the part where they're just about to do the transmutation and Ed asks Al if he's ready...)
Cause I remember it clearly (Then tells him not be scared, and starts the transmutation)

The day you slipped away (Reiterate on the part where their mom dies. Show Ed and Al opening the door to the house to see their mom on the ground)
Was the day I found it won't be the same oh (And then move to the part where she closes her eyes and dies)

I've had my wake up (Back to Maes and Roy. Show the flashback again, but only the part where Maes knocks on the door, Roy answers)
Won't you wake up (Now move it forward to the flashback scene where Roy is smacked by Maes)
I keep asking why (Roy at the funeral, at the part where he's upset that maes died before helping push him to the top)
And I can't take it (The scene of Roy standing in front of the blood stain where he killed Winry's parents, looking upset)
It wasn't fake it (Here, use the clip of right after Roy killed Winry's parents, of him holding the gun to his own head)
It happened you passed by (Maes doing his patented little hand salute/wave, the one with the two fingers that looks like giving a moving peace sign)

Now you're gone (Back to Ed and Al. Show the transmutation scene....(Note: You may have to slow down/speed it up a bit to fit it all in)
Now you're gone (Keep showing it...)
There you go (A little more...)
There you go (Okay, by now you should be at the part where Ed is crying, and trying to bring Al back. "He's the only brother I have!")
Somewhere I can't bring you back (And the...thing...that ended up as the result of the transmutation)

Now you're gone (Maes and Roy. Show the scene where Maes is walking inside the hallway...)
Now you're gone (And Lust comes out at him from nowhere...)
There you go (The fight scene (it's really short!) and then...)
There you go (Maes running as the Lieutenent comes in, shooting)
Somehow you're not coming back (Finally, show the part where Roy is answering the phone call from Maes from the same episode)

[Chorus x 2] (For the choruses, string together as many scenes of Roy, Maes, Ed, Al, and Trisha (their mom) as you can, at ultra-speed (kinda like looking back on it all) or just take all the footage from this video, run it together at a super-fast speed, and shove it in here.)

Na na, Na na na na na (Show here the part where Maes is standing at the train station, and he waves....)
I miss you (...to Ed. As the train passes by, Maes is gone for good.)
