you need video editing software, and footage sources, and music, and a shit load of free time to do it all in. beyond that, i dunno.

You're best bet is to look through the guides on this site. There are all kinds of guides that range from AMV theory to the actual creation process.

If you are attending Katsucon or Otakon this year. I would recommend you bring a note pad and make notes of what they discuss at How to Make An AMV panel. I know that at Otakon Vic is going to be at least on the pannel and I'll probably be on it as well once I get details worked out. Vic covers more technical stuff than I do. But I explain more of the concepts of the amv's and also other programs beside Adobe products. Vic is the person you want to ask about Adobe.

As for making music videos, your first task is to get some editing software. You're best bet is to go with Windows Movie Make 2. It's free and can be downloaded from here

wow...
Anyway, your gonna wanna get sometin like Vegas or Premiere, then you'll wanna get your anime on DVD and yur song on CD, then your gonna Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides (Read ErmaC and Absoulute Destiny's Freindly AMV Guides), this'll tell ya all about ripping the footage and songs and loadin them up in Premiere/Vegas/Whatever and encoding your final video to an acceptable size while keepin it looking awsome. I personally learned how to use Premiere as sort of a self-taught kinda thing. You may wanna get the basics down with somekinda online guide (search google) or you could buy a Premiere/Vegas/Whatever book and it'll tell ya everything. If you see somethin in a video that you don't know how to do but wanna try out, then contact the editor, most people around here are quite friendly (MOST) and will kindly tell you how to fix little minor problems. But the worst thing you can do to another editor is what yur doin now, which is ask really big general questions. You'll wanna know the basics before you go to an editor with a question, or else their not gonna put up with TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE MY WHOLE VID PPLZ! 'cuz thats just like, too much to answer.
Hope I'm helpfull.
