Anyone else ever had their video copied?
I hope I'm not stepping out of line here, but I seem to be getting a lot of negative attention about this, so I want to bring this to the attention of others here. See, I started making videos in february, and have only finished three so far. Back in April, I premiered a video called The Demon Within. It's a naruto/linkin park (Yes, I Know LP is hated by all at this point, but I had never known this at the time) anyway, I had put about two months of effort here and there into it, although much of my work went to waste, since my system was garbage at the time, since it was almost 4 years old, and so I was reduced to using movie maker. I had tried to use premiere, but unfortunately it wouldn't run on my system without crashing constantly. Anyway, I found a video by this guy named Anquan called Lonliness, that is the same anime and song as my video. I don't mind this, since I was not the first person to use this combination, thus I had no excuse to be mad about it, right?
Well I find out that this video is the exact same idea; it focuses on the demons nad pain that both Naruto and Gaara have to deal with, and so on. Well, I watch the video, and no offense to the creator, but I was not the slightest bit impressed. Sure, the video quality was nice (It helps to have ANYTHING that's not movie maker!) but the timing on the editing was off, the video clips were uninspired in my opinion, and on top of that, it even had subtitles in it! I was trounced for doing this in my first two videos, so I put a stop to that, so I don't think anyone with even my minimal experience in the busineess of AMV-making has any excuse for leaving subtitles in a video. Anyway, what really got me mad, was that apparently his video has a higher rating than mine, and even more opinions! I stated my anger in an opinion, and he got all pissy and even went so far as to throw a crapload of insults into it, when all I had said in MY opinion of his video, was that I was upset how his video lookd like a knockoff of mine, and that It seemed unfair that his was rated higher, that's all.
Anyway, to top it all off, at least one other person has now accused me of copying HIS video, which is more than I can bear, honestly. Has anyone else had to put up with this before?

Yes, plagiarism is evident here. All you can do is report it and let the admins deal with it, really. If you to read more topics about plagiarism, try these threads...

guess what.....i have the same ideas as a lot of people....BUT...its only copying if its the EXACT same as your vid....as in...same footage...same editing....otherwise, its a spin off of the same idea, in their own words so to speak.
Unless they used the exact same footage and passed it for their own, i don't see how you can get all upset about an idea....or why people should get all upset about an idea either.
If this were something legitimate to argue about...every other EVA vid would not have been made, because there are so many with similar ideas.
oh wait....forget EVA, if this were the case we might only have like...5 vids per anime on this site.

Well, what pissed me off more than anything, was that someone left an opniion on my video, comparing me to that other dude's vid, and telling me that I Ripped him off! Now how frigging hard is it to read the premiere date? MIne was two months before his, so it's totally imposslbe that I ripped him off of all people. God. Freaking morons.

Erm, yea, of course if you use one of the most popular bands and one of the most popular anime here, you're gonna end up with someone who has a near-identical idea to yours! Hell, I'm surprised there's only one.
It's a matter of perception. If it's a false accusation... there's an op response form, go type. Perhaps the reviewer might see it and be convinced to change that view. If not... well, it happens. False accusations happen.
And as far as you thinking the other vid was a knockoff of yours, and yours was better, and that you're upset that his is rated higher...
...if the only reason you're here is to prove you're better than someone at making videos, I suggest you give a good thought to why exactly it is that you do this; and give an even better thought to the fact that your subjective assessment of a video is not any more valid than the next guy's, and probably much less valid if that vid happens to be your own

no no, it's not the music and anime he used that angered me. He used the exact same video idea, as in the theme of hte video. On top of that, ever friggen clip he used in his video was also used in mine. See, what aggravated me more than ANYTHING was the fact that other people told me that I was ripping HIM off, when my video came first.

Well, noone owns a particular idea. Hey, anyone is welcome to use any song/anime combination I have, and even go for the same ideas - so long as you don't take out bits of editing directly of my video, I'm fine with it.
***
Now, in your case...
If your video came first, and you know that those who called you a rip-off are flat-out WRONG - well, why be so upset? It's irritating, yea, but in that sort of scenario I'd rather pride myself in the fact that I know they are wrong, whereas they don't. Intellectual/moral superiority? There's your proof of it right there.
Not that I myself would ever try to claim it over anyone

look at all the Naruto AMV's...and look at all the similar clips. You can't have hundreds or thousands of AMV's from the same anime and each one NOT use the same clips as others. Get over yourself...you acting like there is a lifetime of footage there. Its not like you are making your own film from scratch.
Lets face facts here. When you have an action vid based on the trials and tribulations of Rock Lee or Naruto or Sasuka(sp?), they are all probobly going to use the same damn clips. They are all the same idea for what ever character(this applies to any anime) you choose to make your vid about, and therefore they are going to have the same clips...plus or minus a few. Unless they are in the same EXACT order...the same EXACT timing, the same EXACT fade/crossfade/effect, then you have nothing to base your anger on about some other guys vid, because he did not copy you.
How about you think about every other idea you have for an AMV, then go DL every vid for that AMV, and if they already used your idea(the who the what the why and when), and used some of the clips you are going to use, don't make that vid. Then tell me why you are even trying to make a vid, because odds are that YOUR vid idea has been done over and over before.
