Need a good instrumental for a memorial type thing....
Ok this is not exactly on topic with this forum, and I apologize if anyone has a problem with that. But given the circumstances, I'd hope you guys can make an exception this time. I'm calling on all of you guy's diferent tastes in music and experience for some suggestions here.
Heres the Deal:
My Grandmother is in the hospital, and her condition is fatal, shes not expected to live very long. They gave her 24 hours 2 days ago. Anyway the situation is that my family wants me to make a kind of memorial of her (using pictures they are sending me) and create a kind of memorial of her life. It will be handed out at the funeral, and I have about 2 days to make it. They want to have the funeral right away when she passes, so thats why they are having me make it now. (Hey my experiences in this comunity and this hobby is actually comming in handy for something worthwile afterall....)
What I need:
Suggestions on instrumental songs to play during the presentation of the photos I do in the video. I need a song that gives a sortof memorial feel to the video. SOmething that would go well with showing someones life from youth upto old age, and showing friends/family and children along the way, with comentaries on all the shots.
Any help on this regard would be greatly apreciated.
If a MOD feels this post doesn't belong on this forum, I'll understand if you have to delete/lock it.

maybe Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (3:23). aim me if you can't get the song yourself.

That sounds like a good choice. There are quite a number of things by Bach that would work well in this way. Also, how sad do you want this memorial to be? I realize it's not supposed to be a happy occasion, but perhaps something that isn't too tragic/hopeless in tone would be nice to highlight someone's life. Solemn, perhaps, but not too depressing...downwithpants wrote:maybe Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (3:23). aim me if you can't get the song yourself.
Anyways, I guess I'll have to second that suggestion. If you have access to any though, listening to some Bach in general might give you some ideas.

My own choice for a memorial would be something from Robert Fripp's 'A Blessing of Tears' album, dedicated to the memory of his own mother, but I don't think it would work for what you're trying to do in particular, as it is a bit more... upward-looking, ambient and un-structured, heaven-oriented so to say, so it probably would not work well for showing memories of someone's life. Sorry, just rambling on here a bit...
Anyways, good luck with this, and my condolences.

..... Suggestions on instrumental songs ...
. At the time of your Grandma's youth, songs were simple and usually
Big Band music.
. The theme from "Largo" or Henry Mancini's "Moon River" - easy
listening type stuff.
. Because of the AGE of the people who will be present, you might want
to keep the music Simple, Clean and not-morbid.
-- remember your target audience
PS. . keep the pictures flowing -gently- with 1½ second fades to each photo
( elder people don't see things quick & slamming like we are used to. )
