What musical style do you prefer to use?

I'm just curious to see if people have a prefered genre of music they like to use? And if you do have a specific genre taht you stay in? Why is that? Is it just because it's your favorite type of music or what?

For me I'm gonna try and stay in the instrumentals James Horner, JOhn Williams, Thomas Newman etc. I just love this music, of course when I find a song I'd love to put an AMV to I'm reminded it's the one on the album that's 1:45 long.

(Though this will give some people the relief of knowing I won't be making any more in the near future.

My rule of thumb is, "If it comes from a video game, I'll use it."

Unless that video game has "Final Fantasy" plastered in front of it. Then it's only a 70% chance.

I generally prefer metal, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't use another genre. Out of three videos, two of the songs can be considered metal.

i think most people will probably lean towards their favourite type of music, purely because they listen to that more and therefore are more likely to be hit with inspiration from that music.

but Beowulf is right, why try to limit yourself? just use what you think would fit your concept.

When I started doing this, I originally thought I was going to use mainly 80s songs.

As it turns out, I seem to have a propensity for bootleg mixes (my "This Is Otakudom" song, "Rocked by Rape", "Under Ice")... but 80s songs are still second.

So unfair I keep listening to instrumental stuff and finding amazing song after amazing song to do the whole death of the Uchiha clan to, but finding them all too short but in the back of my brain there's a voice saying "When you get the new software do an Itachi, Sharigan Torture video with that song from Queen of the Damned, the one that goes "I see hell in your eyes...taken in by suprise...touching you makes me die inside...etc etc" but everyone on these forums always complains about the amount of metal/ hard rock used...
