For those of you in anime clubs...

Post by greenjinjo » Sat Aug 21, 2004 3:52 pm

For those of you in college anime clubs (or whatever), how do you show AMVs at your meetings, if you do?

I'm just curious as our club here at my college is looking to start showing them possibly but we need to know how other clubs go about it.

Thanks!

Well, at my anime club events, there is a one hour dinner break in the schedule. During that hour, I show AMVs. Usually stuff that's new, but sometimes just a selection of whatever I've been downloading since the last event.

With ours, when we do show AMVs, I block out about 45 minutes to an hour on the schedule for them. I just give them their own time slot, like the rest of the anime. Occasionally, we'll show them before the meeting starts, or at the end as well if we have a little spare time.

I seldom go to Trier's anime-club... but sometimes they show one amv as introduction to an Anime they show afterwards. I suggested them to show more once, but however the majority of people wants to see the actual anime instead of AMVs of course

So showing one or two as introduction to a show is maybe a good thing to go with.

I'll find an AMV or two from the show we're watching that night and screen it after we're finished watching the DVD.

Even though I've only gone to two of the meetings at the nearby college (which is really across the bay from where I live), they would show them randomly between the episodes, and they did seem a little enthusiastic about seeing the AMVs to take a break from the nearly 45-minute episode blocks.

Back when I ran an anime club, we would watch AMV to introduce the show, and then watch the series.

Cool, thanks a lot for the ideas. I'll run them by the club president next time I see him.

When I ran the amv portion of my high school anime club we would start off with 30 minutes of AMVs followed by the anime portion of the club. It gave people time to get to the club for the anime showings and let those already there have something to do. I would make a few vhs tapes in SP mode and mix up my favorite amvs. My favorites list was/is constantly growing so I made sure to keep things fresh.

Back when Ikasu was going to run the CSUN anime club amv contest, we'd show amvs on the projector before the meetings.

We played the majority of the AX2002 contest and a few Kevin Caldwell videos.
