Format for clips to work with

Post by Paradisio » Wed Aug 11, 2004 5:12 pm

I was a bit iffy to post this in the software specific forum, so I though I would ask here. Ok I loaded a fansub (don't give me a hard time about it) and in Vdub I put it on no audio and video on direct stream copy and saved the avi. But for some reason, some of the AVIs wont work in video editing software and cause the program to crash. But I can play them fine otherwise. Any suggestions? If it helps, I use premiere.

Is there a better format I should save clips at that would work well?

Premiere doesn't like DivX or XviD clips very much. You should try saving them as HuffYUV clips. But be aware thet they aren't going to look too swell.

Probably SHOULD have gone to the software specific forum.

Oh, here's an abestos suit. You'll need it....

Yea, xvid and divx footage isn't friendly for editing... you have to choices...

convert to huffyuv. the file size will be really big!

the second option that has worked wonders for me (not that i use divx footage to edit with >.>) is to import the avi into avisynth using avisource("filename.avi"). if you don't know how to use avisynth it's all the guides.
