Post by etsuko_x » Sat Aug 23, 2003 9:08 am

Okies, i'm new in the forum and this is my first post. I need some AMVs for my final project this semester so would anyone like to be famous or volunteer? :) Nope, i can assure you I won't be selling them off or ripping scenes coz I'm too busy making an anime website for the AMVs. For those interested, please PM me and i'll let you in on further details. Thanks a bunch. Seen some work and they're great, keep it up people.

What exactly does this final project entail? What kind of class is it? After it is graded, what will be done with the AMV's and the site they are on, will it continue to be maintained or will it become a mass of broken links and failed dreams like every other site on the interweb?

AMV for school project??

Post by Lavondyss » Tue Aug 26, 2003 2:12 pm

It's great that you came here to ask for help on your project. I'm sure some of us who've created AMVs feel...honored and good inside. Know what I mean?

I'm sure peeps here are still antsy about showing their AMVs to the public because it could be considered illegal and that might cause the RIAA and those big corporations to sue us poor saps (yes I'm one of them) for thousands of dollars just because we're "promoting their merchandise" without a proper license. Anyone else see anything wrong with that?

Well, all the AMVs I've ever made (2), I legally purchase and own the anime and the music. I'm sure 99% of us in the ORG does too. We're just hestitant about sharing our work for fear of being punished. I hope you understand.

But, in light of your courageous effort to ask for assistance, I will allow you to show my "crappy" video. With subtitles even!!!

Hey don't laugh! When I got the footage, it was the only ones available at the time, and I'm very proud of it too. Here is the link to the video, enjoy kiddo. Hope it helps.

Ditto.

I'm sure if you give us a littme more information, people will be more then gratious to help....

Or you can do what I did and pull random AMVs from a search engine and let them play on the high school news....
(And since no one who knows anything about the org goes there besides me, no one will find out>.>)

Oh.

Oops....

Okie then, here's what I'm doing for my project and what differentiates it from the anime websites already out there. ;)

I'm building an anime Flash website called Animetainment. It's an anime website that contains entertainment stuff. It has the normal information on anime history, styles, types (terms), and Downloads. That's where the AMVs, Wallpapers and maybe WAV/MIDI files would be. MP3 can't be distributed freely. :P The 3 main features I'll be working on to make the website different is a game, 2 web episodes and a section where you can draw your own character and print it out or send it out later. ;)

This is the project I'll be working on for the next 4 months. If you have any suggestions or feedback to this, post em up. If you wanna have a sneak peek at what the first web episode's about, [url=http://www.notdesign.net/~adom/etsuko/w ... lemma1.jpg]HERE's[/ur] my storyboard.

After I'm done with the project, I'll be thankful to all who've helped me and I won't be using your AMVs anymore if I were to use this project as part of my portfolio. I guess then I'd have to work my ass off trying to make an AMV myself. :P

That leaves us with how much space you want to use for your AMVs, so we can compress accordingly, and what the project is for... Yourself? School?
And then, after the project is done, will the site be offline?

Technically, wallpapers, sound clips, and re-arrangements (i.e. MIDIs) can't be distributed either, since they're usually (1) unauthorized derivative works of copyrighted works or (2) outright copyrighted material.

But hey, oh well.

They can be distributed if you asked for permission. ;) That's why i'll send an official letter for permission to the people who would like to help me out by contributing. Well, I think the best if you could keep the videos within the 30MB or lower is best. Coz come to think of a real situation, an anime store later wouldn't have that much dough to host a 1GB server. LoL! :P
