I had some idea for a trailer using the preview for The Animatrix and combining it with clips from different anime used to represent each story. These are just some random ideas I had for anime that could fit in place for the actual stories.
The Final Flight of the Osiris ---> Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Same animation style (obviously) and the ruins of the city could work for the real world in The Matrix.
The Second Renaissance ---> Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040
An anime where machines turn against man and try to take over.
Kid’s Story ---> Evangelion
A lot of wierd stuff goes on around Shinji. I just thought of this one because I coudn't think of anything else that might work.
Program ---> Ninja Scroll or Rurouni Kenshin
Something with the ninja/samurai appearance that has characters doing things that would defy normal physics.
World Record ---> ???
I'm not sure what would work for this one.
Beyond ---> Serial Experimants Lain
They seem to be strange in the same way. When I was watching Beyond, it often reminded me of Lain.
Detective Story ---> Cowboy Bebop
Spike ---> Detective, Faye ---> Trinity, Sindicate ---> Agents. Make the scenes in black and white and it might work well.
Matriculated ---> Ghost In The Shell
It has characters hooked up to machines plus a fight scene with a robot at the end.
The actual Animatrix trailer is about a minute long, so this wouldn't be a very long video. Anyway, what do you think of this idea.
