Video capturing devices ... from vcr to computer (hardware)?

My friend has a device but it's only god or still pictures.. not vids...

If anyone has info on this, please help... I know how to create awsome vids, just need new footage.

This belongs in the video hardware forum.

Also, try reading some of the threads there about the same subject.
