A question for all those who love using effects

Post by Ashton » Fri Apr 18, 2003 11:32 am

Generaly speaking, is it true or false that premade (the kind you can select and place on a clip and then adjust settings) are less effective than those that you create yourself? How do you go about making an effect you want? Do you usually know what you want to have in the video before you sit down to put in the effect?
Thanks.

using effects is like someone using drugs, you start using the premade stuff...but then you begin to experiment, and find even more trippier, freakier stuff, and it all just goes crazy from there O.o

...and if you don't do it right, you feel even worse than if you hadn't started at all. ;)

Okay, let's shoot that metaphor before it takes over.

You use them carefully. Generally the premade ones do all I ever need them to (granted I only used them in my last video) and all I limit myself to is motion of the clip or so I can just keep it somewhere else rather than filling the whole screen. But yeah, don't get carried away or everything starts looking like one big opium dream.

Hrm.... effects are bad... I used to use a lot of effect, and then I started needing more effects, so I started making videos where there was nothing but effects. not even any source video, then I realised what I had done, I had become a *gulp* effect junkie...

Sorry I had to go there lol yes effects are bad, you shouldn't do effects lol.
