Hi everyone,
I'm curious about how different genres of music influence the style and storytelling of AMVs. The most vibrant works leave a lasting impression on the listener.
What genres do you find work best for creating memorable AMVs? Do some songs inspire you to approach editing differently? I'm interested in looking at music and understanding genres better can anyone help me. Thanks you!

Re: Which genres work best for AMV Style?
I find that I don't think about genres. Before he passed, godix set a challenge to edit in every genre, and honestly, I didn't get very far at all.
I'm a song first editor, with incredibly rare exceptions. That means I hear a song and my mind will choose an anime and I see a rough edit of the AMV in mind long before I commit to editing. I have hundreds of unmade AMVs running around in my head. Mostly romance/sentimental/drama, but also heavy effects or comedy videos I'd never have the interest to actually edit.
It's cliché, but... Ballads work the best for romance/sentimental. I know, groundbreaking stuff there.

I just feel it out. Whatever you enjoy that gives you a strong mental image. Then you free associate that imagery with something familiar.
