Wow, video for AMV's got easy

Post by DJ_Izumi » Sun Dec 24, 2017 1:06 am

My god do I remember all the GUIDES on preparing footage for AMVs. De-telecine, noise, aspect ratio, just decrypting the discs in the first place. Today in prep for going a video again for the first time in forever I started by looking at more modern lossless video compession options for making temporary files but on a whim I was like 'Let's just demux this h.264 stream RIGHT off the Blu-Ray and plug it into Premiere CS6' (Since CS6 I legally own for life after my CC sub lapsed) ...And it just worked. Dragged it around and seeked super fast, no issues, nothing, the raw h.264 stream demuxed from the disc JUST WORKED as source footage. ...Well damn, that was easy. o.O

Not sure about h.264 10bit or HEVC from re-encoded anime rips, I was only testing with my own blurays. But still, wow, that's easy. One can literally prep all the footage with just MakeMKV to decrypt the disc and MKVExtract to give you just the streams. o.O
