What size should I export
The different sources I used to make my AMV have different resolution. In what resolution should I export my AMV then?
Even if they where all the same size, what size do you recommend I should export my AMVs?

I export at 360x240 if all I am doing is keeping them on my hard drive or PLANNING to put them on the web as they are of watchable quality and a fair file size. If I want to distribute it to a con or something though then I'll blow my HD space and go with 720x480 dimensions which looks much clearer in the proper codec.

Zarxrax's right, and i'll go into more detail if it's needed:
it would be reasonable to use the highest resolution, from all of ur sources, to export ur video. but let's say u have one piece of footage that's 760x480, while another one is.. 640x524 (this one i completely made up). u also have 720x480, 640x480, etc., although they're not very relevant in what i'm tryin to explain..
the typical thing to do would be to put the largest length and the largest width together. therefore, in this case, the export resolution should be 760x524 (largest length x largest width). this way, u can see all of the video from every source.. although Premiere will automatically add black bars in the spaces which are smaller than this export resolution. it's quite a bitch to get rid of these black bars later on, too.
and even if ur resolutions for all ur footage is the same, i recommend sticking with those original resolutions, and not altering them in any way. u can do resizing and cropping later on, in VirtualDub, when/if u prep for compression.

Quick one:
1) For future reference, this should go in video help
2) 360x240 is not a good resolution to export at if you want to make mpeg and divx encodes since 360 is not dividable by 16
Whooooo.... first post in months! Now I can go back sleeping

If there's not too much of a difference between the video sizes, you could always resize down the larger one to the smaller using AviSynth and Crop and Lanczos Resize. I try and do this right at the beginining so the when I output the final video from Premiere everything everything is the same size/aspect ratio. But in the end, it's a personal preference. If you don't mind transitioning between wide-screen and full-screen, I think most people here just look right past that when watching the vids. You'll want to take the time to try and keep the final aspect ratio of the footage as close to the original as possible though, to make sure it doesn't look squashed or stretched.

I feel you quite all agree that I should export to the size of my biggest source except if I wanna reduce the file size of my video. Well that's what I'm gonna do then. Thanx for the tips.
Oh and
Oh and
I tought of putting it in video help, but then I found out there is only video software help and video hardware help. It's not quite a software problem nore a hardware problem. And I felt it was more of a generall AMV question as there is no real good answer.Turboneko wrote:
